Module B: Fitness Machine Comparison

1.) The first machine I chose to research was the NordicTrack Treadmill C2950 this treadmill is
more expensive than most with a retail value of $5,999 before taxes but I believe there’s a good
reason for that. This piece of equipment was designed with WhisperQuiet deck technology
which helps absorb the sound of your footfall. It is also much lighter than other treadmills on
the market which helps it run smoothly and quietly. This is a good quality to help reduce noise
while using the treadmill. The footprint on this treadmill is 79.5” in length x 32.9” width x 66.6”
height. This machine comes with a 10 year frame warranty, a 2 year parts warranty and 1 year
labor warranty which you would most likely not have to use if you bought this machine because
it was made for high intensity workouts and a very high durability. A review posted on the
website stated, “very durable and high performing, ready to handle a full house holds
exercising needs.” Although this machine is very durable that is only if you maintain it properly
which you can do by loosening the treadmill belt to clean and re-oil it after about every 12-15
hours of use.
2.) The second piece of exercise equipment I'll be talking about is the Concept 2 Rowing
Machine. This machine has a retail value of $1249.00 before taxes which is much cheaper than
the NordicTrack Treadmill C2950 but works just as great to give you a good exercise. This is
another very quiet machine that uses a magnetic and hydraulic-piston rowers that produce
almost no sound! The footprint on this machine is 8’ x 2’ and they have a 5-year warranty plus a
30-day money back guarantee if this is not a right fit for you. The company said “the concept 2
rowers are designed to last a lifetime, what may happen over time is you will find some parts
on your machine will wear with use (I.e. seat, rollers, shock cord) but all parts for your machine
are available for replacement. So, this piece of equipment should last a very long time with the
proper maintenance. Which is every 50 hours of use lubricate the chain and every 250 hours of
use tighten the shock cord and just regularly check for dust or loose screws or bolts around the
machine.
3.) Lastly, I reviewed the NordicTrack SpaceSaver elliptical. This machine will sell for around
$1,699. Although it may be pricey it was designed with noise cancelling technology but without
proper maintenance it will click or squeak, so to ensure this does not happen once a month you
should check that all screws are tight and once a week oil the track and wash down after every
use. The footprint for this elliptical is 771’’ in height, 32’’ width and 80’’ length with a weight of
190 lbs. This comes with a lifetime body and frame warranty, 90-day labor and a 3-year
electronics warranty. With proper use this machine should last anywhere between 5 and 7
years.
