1. General

Pixi3-3.5TF ( A463BG ) is a cellphone with MTK MT6581 platform (1.3GHz Dual Core), and
BT/WLAN/MP3, social network service etc. functions. It can work with the GSM (850/900/1800/1900),
UMTS 850/1700/1900(B2/4/5).

3) Battery life.

The bellowing table shows the nominal battery life respectively in standby and talking mode. These
typical values are expressed in normal temperature with battery initially full charged and under good ratio
coverage. Battery range depends on the network characteristics, the ambient temperature and
particularly on movement.

For a normally discharged battery which has not been stored for long time, the charge time

Note:

 If the battery is new, charge it before use. Battery icon will appear after charging a short
time.

 If the battery is deeply discharged, battery icon will appear after charging several minutes
and accompany with a slight sound.

2.6. Maintenance policy

This chapter describes the maintenance of the Pixi3-3.5 TF A463BG series phones authorized at L1 repair
centre. The maintenance operations can only be performed in approved repair centres.

Main L1 maintenance operations are as following:

2.6.1. For handset:

2.6.4. User Data Format reset introduction

How to use: Long press Power Key + Volume up key in power off mode to enter recovery mode.

When to use: If you can’t start your handset or when you start your handset, there will be something wrong
with it, like can’t charge or can’t charge normally and so on.

What does it do when you use End user format function: it will format end user area, and your handset
will come back to factory model, everything you save or set in the handset (except SIM card) will be lost.

Detail steps:
1. Long press “power” key + “volume up” key, enter the Data Format interface,
Press volume up /volume down key to select language, press “power” key to confirm;
2. Press volume up /volume down key to select “wipe data / factory reset”, press power key to confirm;
3. Press volume down key to select “Yes—delete all user data” and the press “power” key to double
confirm the factory reset;
4. Factory reset complete, press volume key to select “reboot system now” and press power key to confirm.

2.7. Cell phone maintenance

1) Equipments for handset test.


 Handset with full power.
 One SIM card.
2) It is recommended the following tools:
 One PC with Windows 2000/NT/XP/Windows 7.
 One ampere meter for charger current test.

2.8. Invoice check

1. Check warranty status of Handset by POP (Proof of Purchase) firstly.

2. If the end user lost his POP, then consider the data code on commercial label as the purchasing day.

3. If IMEI sicker (commercial label) is lost but the phone can be power on, input “*#2886#” at dial
mode and then select “MANU”-> “TRACABILITY” to check date code, IMEI info, CU-REF, PTH(PTM),
etc.

2.9. IMEI Check

1) Power on the handset, enter *#06#


2) If the IMEI sticker in the metal sheet is not lost:
We should make sure that the IMEI number must be the same with the one on the IMEI sticker; if not,
it’s out of warranty policy.

2.10. Humidity sensitive sticker Check

If humidity sensitive label is not good, the cell phone will be considered as out of guarantee.

 Position of humidity sensitive sticker.

Humidity sensitive sticker is on the button of furnished back cover.

2.11. Visual Mechanical inspection

Mechanical warranties check items:

1) Corrosion
 Corrosion on the USB connectors, SIM connectors, and other metal surfaces
2) Hole
 Holes (Diameter > 1mm) on any surface, including front casing, decorate frame, battery cover,
LCD Lens, keypad.
3) Bump
 Bumps (Diameter>1mm) on any surface, including the front casing, decorate frame, battery cover,
LCD Lens, keypad
4) Scratch (length > 3mm)
 Scratches on any surface, including the front casing, furnished frame, battery cover, LCD Lens,
keypad
5) Distortion
 Bend, twisted or crushed on the h/s, cover/casing or connectors
6) Broken

 LCD broken, casing broken, cover broken


7) Dropped.
 Keypad tear off, LCD lens, connectors fallen off
8) Gap:
 External physical damage relating to abnormal use, like front case and frame opened
9) Others:
 Damage caused by disassembly like wrong part assembly, lost of components
 Use in abnormal environment like too high temperature with plastic melts

2.12. Accessories inspection

Accessories warranties check items:

1) Any use in abnormal temperature, other than the one specified in the user manual. Any evidence of
plastic/casing melted.
2) Any mark of food or liquid around the accessory or in the USB socket.
3) Any evidence of mechanical shocked which damage the enclosure of the charger or headset.
4) Any mark of tentative of disassembly the accessory
5) Any abnormal use which induce wire damage, wire broken or USB socket deformed.

2.13. Cell phone maintenance procedure

1) Check that the SIM card is set correctly.

2) Power on the cell phone.

3) If the cell phone asks to input NCK code, which means it is SIM locked, and can only be worked with
dedicated SIM card. Use the correct SIM card.

4) Enter the phone code if necessary.

5) If power on, test step by step with the auto test code:

Press *#2886# in dial screen and then you will see the interface displaying the SW version. Select
“Auto” to start the auto test, or select “MANU” to do the MMI test manually.

If one of the test failed during “Auto” test mode, it will ask you “Restart?”, press “YES” to restart the auto
test from the first one and “NO” to exit the auto test, while “NEXT” to continue the auto test.

 Traceability

I. You can get information such as PT:1, PFT:1 BW:1, MMI:0, FT:1

II. Press “Pass” to continue.

 Touch Panel

I. “Please draw on the yellow area” according to instructions and it will show “TEST
RESULT: OK!”

II. Press “PASS” to continue.

 LCD

I. You will see the LCD display three colors - RED, GREEN and BLUE - if it functions well;

II. Press “Pass” to continue.

III. You will see the LCD displays black if it functions well;

IV. Press “Pass” to continue.

V. You will see the LCD displays grey if it functions well;

VI. Press “Pass” to continue.

VII. You will see the LCD displays grey level if it functions well;

VIII. Press “Pass” to continue.

IX. You will see the LCD displays white if it functions well;

X. Press “Pass” to continue.

 Keypad

I. Press the key displayed on the screen. The key on the screen will be dark when you
press it if it functions well;

II. Press “Pass” to continue;

 LCD Backlight

I. The screen backlight will be flashing if it functions well;

II. Press “Pass” to continue;

 Main Camera

Press “Pass” to continue if the camera functions well;

 MIC
I. Rub the MIC with your finger,You can heard the sound from the receiver if functions well
II. Press “PASS” to continue.

 VIBRATOR

I. You can feel the phone’s vibrating if it functions well;

II. Press “Pass” to continue

 HEADSET

I. You can hear the sound after insert the headset if it functions well

II. Press “Pass” to continue

 USB/Charger

I. Insert USB cable according to instruction, then it will say “USB:OK/Charging :OK” and
Charger LED will turn on if it functions well;

II. Remove USB cable according to instruction

III. Press “Pass” to continue;

 SIM CARD

I. Insert SIM card and the phone will detect it if functions well;

II. Press “Pass” to continue;

 Memory Card

I. Insert SD card and the phone will detect it if functions well;

II. Press “Pass” to continue;

 Battery Temp

It will display “Temp range: 20~50”, “current is xxx” and the value of “Battery content”/
“Battery Voltage” if it functions well;

 Bluetooth

Bluetooth will search automatically and it will display device address if it functions well;

 WIFI
It will search for WIFI hotspot and display searched result on the screen if it functions well;

 GPS

It will run GPS and search for satellite, and then it will display info such as “PRN”, “SUR”, etc.
on the screen if it functions well;

3. Replace the handset parts

3.1. Preliminary

Before any disassembly (except the antenna), the back cover, battery and SIM card must be removed
firstly.

3.2. Precaution

The heart of the handset contains all digital circuit (microprocessor, ASIC, memories, display, keypad, etc)
and the high-frequency transceiver circuit which is protected by the upper and lower cover.

However, some ESD sensitive area is completely or partially visible (keypad keys, micro-SIM drive, etc).
In order to prevent any risk of ESD damage during disassembly or assembly of the handset, the operator's
wrist should be grounded.

This picture illustrates the connection. The operator wears an electrostatic conduct bracelet which
connected to an anti-static pad. And the pad place on the work surface which connected to the metal
structure workbench, the whole being earthed.

3.3.1. Charging Process

1) Table 2.1 describes the various events related to a standard charger connected to a cell phone.

2) If the display does not light on or battery icon does not flash when the charger or the cell phone’s
charge function is defective with mechanical or electronics.

In this case:

a) Replace the charger to charge.

 Confirm it works correctly or not.

 If it can not work correctly after change charger

b) Then change another battery to charge again.

 Confirm it works correctly or not.

c) Check the Charge connector on the cell phone.

 If it is damaged, replace the cell phone.

4. Tools

4.1. Kill Switch Tool

It is authorized to do factory reset in repair center. This reset tool of Pixi3-3.5 TF is called “kill
switch tool”. After resetting, the end user’s personal information will be erased. So please backup
user date before resetting.
You can download tool from CCS website: https://css.tclmobile.cn/.

Equipments requested when reset:

⑴ A handset with full charged battery;


⑵ PC with windows system and network enabled;
⑶ A USB cable.
⑷ Dongle.

4.2. Install Kill Switch and use it

1. Kill Switch is an installation tool, users only need to get the latest version of the tool package, and then
install it directly.
Please refer below steps to use the tool.
1) Install the tool package and install the tool.
2) Insert the dongle.
3) Double click the tool icon to run the tool.

4) Select the correct project name. Please also make the ‘Fmt User Data’checked. Please also make sure
you have backed up user data.
5) Click start button.

6) Connect your device to PC as message showed on the tool.
