POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY
Rizal was known as ilustrado which was the name used or attached by young
men who opposed the policies of the Spanish government and the church or simply
they are anti-friar. Their primary focus is to promote "self-government" where people are
being prioritize, supported and heard. According to Rizal's political view, when the Spain
colonized our country, he believed that they should have used their power to help us in
developing our country, educating the Filipino people, and the implementation of
different policies which are focus to the people of the Philippines instead of using it to
manipulate us, made us slaves and totally abused us in no limit but it didn't happened.
So our hero, Dr. Jose Rizal wanted us to be free with the hands of the Spaniards. So
what he did was he criticized them by means of his two novels, the "Noli Me Tangere"
and "El Filibusterismo". However, the Spaniards soon knew about them, so they treated
the Filipinos in a harsher way. They made them slaves, they force them to work in their
military service and in constructing churches, schools, hospitals, buildings and repair
roads and bridges and other public works. They also abused their power by means of
exploitation from which they use someone or something in a way that helps them
unfairly. Then they considers people who opposed them as criminals. Since they act
superior that time, any complaint will put your life in danger.
Due to manipulation of the Spaniards, the Filipinos have been turned into
someone who are ignorant, destitute and fanatic and the national sentiment that the
country holds have been set aside and nearly forgotten. Jose Rizal wanted to change
the way the Spanish governs, so he slips up and formulated different political reforms.
Rizal had four reforms, one is the restoration of Filipino representation to the
Spanish Cortes and the freedom of the press, second is the reorganization of the
of the judicial procedure, and quality and efficiency of the government personnel. The
third one is the adoption of a comprehensive examination and the publication of its
results and allowing Filipinos to have the same opportunity with the Spaniards to hold
government office equal to the Spaniards. Lastly, he likes to establish justice as the
foundation of society and the government. He believed that fairness should prevail in
ETHICAL PHILOSOPHY
Human behavior is special to Rizal’s life. It is the foundation why he fought for
our freedom. Ethical Philosophy is giving importance and giving recognition of what is
right and wrong and good and bad. Rizal ethical philosophy is came from science which
Rizal recognizes not only the forces of good and evil but also the tendencies of
good and evil. He focuses on what good and evil can do rather what good and evil
came from. In addition, his advocacy emphasize the immoral attitude of the friars giving
birth to his novels to fight the evil doings of spaniards. Fighting for Filipinos to be treated
as reasonable and just is the main ethical philosophy of Rizal by censuring the friars. He
added that happiness and love is the object of marriage not financial gain and loving
SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY
From the experience of Rizal, there are social philosophy developed such as
man in society, influential factors, racial problems, social constant, social justice, social
ideal, poverty and wealth, reforms, youth and greatness, history and progress, and the
Rizal that parents need to be respected by their children. In addition, woman influence
is much more influential than man. He made the idea of giving importance to women.
On the other hand, equal distribution of wealth brings peace to every individual
for it will not provide crab mentality among Filipinos. In this case, having the same
status makes same treatment and emphasizing that education is also wealth.
Lastly, recognition of own dignity and rights is a help for the Philippines to have
social progress. Knowing our rights is knowing who we are in this country and knowing
that we are citizen of this country is knowing our own rights as Filipino.
