Sulphur (S)

obtained in all cells of the body, especially on protein:

amino acid cysteine

amino acid methionine

Function:

- Cysteine groups are important for catalytic activity


- Sulfur as SO4 is used for detoxification

Source:

- especially the amino acids cysteine and methionine


- only a few are SO4 (ions) because Mg.SO4 is often used for Epsom salt

S in urine comes in 3 forms:

1. inorganic sulfur : sulfate


2. conjugated sulfate : phenol
3. intact sulfur : amino acid cysteine
