the more you spoke to the local people, the more you understood the reason for this custom.
Describe and explain this custom in your blog."

The recent holiday that I had from my college was last weekend but due to the recent outbreak
of the dangerous virus COVID19 I didn't wanted to take risk going out and eventually those who
went were immediately called back to campus after the first confirm case in Armenia. Apart from
this time I can take about my previous recent holiday, which was a month winter vacation in
Yerevan. I had so much fun within that 1 month. I got to learn many new things about that city
and explore in depth.

Along with friends, the vacation was even better. We used to go around and explore the city. It
was the best time to be in Yerevan because it was Christmas and New Year at the same time.
The whole city was decorated with beautiful lights which added more beauty to the city. We
went to the main areas during Christmas and New Year and it was one of the best experiences
I've had in my life. There was a huge Christmas tree in the middle of Republic Square,
decorated with many lights. The Christmas night was amazing and we had the beat time. The
other thing we had the best time was in New Year. It is one of the best New Year I've had in the
past years. Within this vacation I found an interesting thing about the Armenian culture which
was the Christmas date.

Although we all know that Christmas date is on 25 of December, but in Armenia it was on 6th
January which was after the New Year 2020. It sounds weird and absurd to people who are
unfamiliar with the Armenian culture and it sounded the same to me as well at first. I was quite
surprised when I first heard about it until I went to talk to an Armenian. Most people don't
understand English but the place we were renting, people knew English. They told us about the
Armenians being orthodox Christians. Since the orthodox Churches have different calendars
then usual churches their Christmas is around January 6. After half an hour of conversation
about the Orthodox Church and Christian it started to make sense because Armenia was on the
first countries to adopt Christianity. It sounded quite unusual custom for me at the beginning but
when I got to know the reason, I think this is one of the most interesting custom in Armenia.

In order to celebrate two Christmases in one year, Armenia is the place to visit. Although, we
might need to add extra layers of thick cloth, personally, i recommend staying in Yerevan during
winter because not only the Christmas but the fireworks in New Year will definitely amuse
anyone.
