JUST FIELDS
V olunteers used the burial records of
Holy Trinity as the starting point in
their research. These list the name, age at
death and address for each individual buried
in the crypt, as well as the date of burial.
Selecting a number of individuals to
investigate, the volunteers began by looking
at census records, birth and marriage records
and rate books. Their research enabled them
to piece together the details of their lives
and start telling their tales.
The final stage was working out where these
former residents lived and the volunteers
were able to pinpoint the exact addresses,
many of which survive intact today.
This map shows the transformation of the
area from green fields to a network of streets
between 1800 and 1860.
It also highlights the locations and individual
buildings which have been investigated by
the volunteers.
