Analysis of Student Learning

Learning Goal 1: Children will be able to distinguish between different vowel sounds and word

endings.

This Learning Goal corresponds with the Roll, Read, and Color Lesson Plan

12 out of 17 children were present for the assignment. Five of the children completed all four

pages of the sheet. Three children completed two of the pages, and three completed one page.

One student did not complete one page.

This means that 66% of the students present met the objective.

This was a pre-assessment for number knowledge and a formative assessment for vowel sounds

and word endings.

Learning Goal 2: Children will be able to label animal and human-like body parts.

This Learning Goal corresponds with Labeling The Cat in the Hat and Thing 1.

14 out of 17 students were present for this lesson.

The Cat in the Hat side of the paper: Ten of the students finished this side of the paper. Four did

not finish this side of the paper. 71% of students present met the objective.

Thing 1 side of the paper: Twelve students finished this side of the paper. Two did not. 85% of

students present met the objective.

This was a formative assessment for labeling human and animal like body parts.
Learning Goal 3: Children will be able to add within 20.

This Learning Goal aligns with Thing 1 and 2, Roll and Color as well as the Goldfish Graphing

Lesson Plan.

Thing 1 and 2, Roll and Color: 15 out of 17 students were present for this lesson.

Four of the students properly finished this assignment. 26% of the students met the objective.

This was a formative assessment for adding numbers under 12.

Goldfish Graphing: 14 out of 17 students were present for this activity.

50% of students completed the activity in its entirety. About 42% finished the activity with

scribbles and not having “good first grade coloring.” 7% of students did not finish the activity.

This was a formative assessment for children’s graphing skills. This was a summative

assessment for number sense.

Learning Goal 4: Children will be able to write and opinion piece about a given topic with

evidence supporting their opinion.

This Learning Goal coincides with the My Favorite Dr. Seuss Book Lesson Plan.

16 out of 17 students were present for this lesson plan. 37% of students met the objectives.

This was a summative assessment for writing about an opinion.


Learning Goal 5: Children will be able to distinguish between “nice” and “not nice”

circumstances in the read aloud Horton Hears a Who! Written by Dr. Seuss.

This Learning Goal aligns with the Horton Hears a Who Lesson Plan.

16 out of 17 students were present for the activity. Having twelve responses was the desired

number and there were fourteen responses total.

This was a formative assessment for naming things in a read aloud that were nice and not nice.

I kept all of the students work as a record of assessments.

Specific, personal feedback to students was not possible due to COVID-19.
