MASCULISM
IN ISLAM

COMPILATION BY: HUZAEFA SHEIKH

Asalamualaikum People!

I am Huzaefa Sheikh student of Pharmacy, due

to various arguments between men and
women about their domination I decided to
compile some references to put them at ease
as they both have their own importance in
Islam.

Topics
Masculism ............................. 2
Feminism .............................. 5

1
MASCULISM
ORIGIN: FRENCH

Masculinism: masculism

Meaning:
Advocacy of the rights or needs of
men and boys.

INTRODUCTION:
The men’s rights movement (MRM) is a part of larger men’s movement. It
branched off from the men’s liberation movement in the early of 1970.
The men’s right movement is made up of variety of group, and individuals who
focus on numerous social issues (including Family law, parenting, reproduction,
domestic violence) and government services including (education, compulsory
military service, social safety nets) which men’s right advocates say discriminate
against men.

Scholars have described the men right movement or parts of movement to be

backlash to feminism.

Basic Rights of Men:

✓ Rights of individuals
✓ Liberty
✓ Political equality

• Equal rights to education:

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “Education is compulsory for every Muslim”

• Right to employment:

In order to resolve ones, need, Men have right to work and fruit of every person’s
toil belongs to themselves.

• Right to choose spouse:

Humans are completely free in choosing a legitimate spouse and there may be
no coercion or compulsion involved.

• Right of health care:

In order to protect their lives and health, as humans, women and men have the
right to enjoy a healthy and hygienic environment and make use of what they
require for treatment and eliminating illness. This is a natural right of all humans
and no one can legitimately obstruct them from it.

Beautiful Relations
1. Husband
2. Son
3. Brother
4. Father
• Husband
The rights of the husband upon his wife are greater than the rights of the wife
upon her husband for the simple reason that Allah, the Almighty, stated in the
Glorious Quran what means: “…And due to the wives is similar to what is
expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men have a degree
over them [in responsibility and authority]. And Allah is Exalted in Might and
Wise." [Quran 2: 228]

3
A Muslim wife must protect her husband’s secrets, privacies, honour and dignity.
She also must protect his wealth, children, finance, belongings and other aspects
of his household, as much as possible.
Allah Almighty Says in the same verse (what means): "...So righteous women
are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would
have them guard..." [Quran 4:34]

• Father
Abu Ad-Darda reported: The Prophet Muhammad (S.AW) said, “The father is the
middle of the gates of Paradise, so keep this gate or lose it.”

[Sunan Ibn Majah 3663]

• Brother
On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) -
that the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said:
“None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for
yourself.”

“The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So, make peace and reconciliation
between your two (contending) brothers; and fear God, that ye may receive
Mercy.” [The Holy Qur’an, al-Hujurat 49:10]

• Son
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), the servant of the Prophet, had
another recollection:
I never saw anyone who was more compassionate towards children than Allah’s
Messenger (S.A.W): His son Ibrahim was in the care of a wet nurse in the hills
around Madinah. He would go there, and we would go with him, and he would
enter the house, pick up his son and kiss him, then come back. (Muslim)

girl the option of remaining married or nullifying the marriage. She responded, “O
Messenger of Allah, I have accepted what my father did, but I wanted to show
other women (that they could not be forced into a marriage).”

• The Family unit:

“They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them.
[Qur'an 2:187]

• Right to vote:
1400 years ago, the word “Bait” was used, which indicates that if a woman

A’ishah reported that she accompanied the Prophet in a travel when she was still
slim. The Prophet told people to move forward and then he asked `A’ishah to
race with him. They had a race and `A’ishah won.
In a later travel, when `A’ishah had forgotten the race and had already gained
weight, the Prophet told her to race with him again. She declined, “How can I
