Concept Map Reflection
Looking back at my first mind map, I only had a general idea of what digital learning is. I

had not heard the term digital native until I have taken this course. I also was unaware of the

various aspects to digital learning. It is not just being able to learn digitally. There is a whole

world of digital gaming tools, and media platforms that allows information to be shared

worldwide. I also learned of the different theories and methods of learning.

I have also learned how important and helpful social media platforms are when it comes

to learning. Social media allows information to be shared and viewed by anyone, anywhere in

the world. Social media also opens up opportunities for people to network. People can expand

their businesses and connections through the digital world. People can use such networking

connections to help them in their career. Networking through social media also gives people a

chance to share their experiences and such that may aid people in the same career as them.

When looking at my first mind map to the second mind map, I have noticed that my ideas

have not changed, but rather they have expanded. I now have a deeper understanding of what

digital learning is and all the different aspects and such that come with it. For example, at first, I

only saw digital learning as being able to learn digitally. Now I see that there are theories of

learning such as behaviorism and cognitivism. I have also learned that it is difficult for those we

consider digital immigrants to teach and input their teaching methods and theories to those

digital natives. Neither is better than the other. Digital natives have to be able to learn from those

digital immigrants who have laid the foundation for what we know today. Digital immigrants

must also be willing to learn, adapt and input the teachings of the digital natives to further help

them in educating the next generation.

One thing I really enjoyed in this class was getting to see and use all the online learning

tools and games that I can personally use throughout my education. Such tools kept me engaged

and entertained while also helping me learn. Overall, I enjoyed this course and learned much

about digital learning.
