SEKAYU CITY

Sekayu is a district which is the capital of Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia.

Administratively, Sekayu Subdistrict is the location of Sekayu City which is the Capital City. Sekayu

District is characterized by an urban area. Sekayu Subdistrict is the center of regency government,

education center, health service center, and trade center for goods and services (besides Sungai Lilin

and Lung Bayung). In addition to the Malay dialect of Sekayu, another language used by residents in this

region is Palembang dialect Malay or Indonesian. The area of Sekayu Subdistrict reaches 701.60 km2
(4.92 percent of the total area of Musi Banyuasin Regency) with a population of 96,867 people (16.01

percent of the total population of Musi Banyuasin Regency) and the density level reaches 223.84 people

(the second most densely populated district after number two Sungai Lilin District). The majority of the

ethnic groups in Sekayu City are from the Musi Tribe
