Performance Objectives - All students will be asked to:

A. Identify the basic parts of a groove weld

B. Identify the basic parts of a fillet weld

A. Basic parts of a groove weld:

1. Face

2. Root opening

3. Toe

4. Bevel angle and groove angle

5. Root face

B. Basic parts of a fillet weld:

1. Face

2. Toe

3. Leg

4. Throat

5. Root

The face of a weld will be reinforced (convex), flat, or concave

An open or full penetration root will also be reinforced (convex), flat, or concave
