80 4515 ‐ Additive to improve scratch and dishwasher resistance
Application: The Xpression color series was developed with the aim of being able to offer
attractive color décors in the thermal curing range of 150°C to 200°C.
If desired, the scratch and dishwasher resistance of declas can be increased by
using a 80 4515.
We recommend to use additive 80 4515 as a primer.
A 2 % hydrous solution is produced from 80 4515 for this purpose.
It can be used on different substrates.
Printing properties: Before the decal is applied, the area to be decorated is pretreated with a 2 %
hydrous solution of additive 80 4515. The decal is then being pressed on this
prepared area with the squeegee. When using this additive, the surface of the
pattern should be cleaned with a wet sponge or cloth before drying, otherwise a
white film may be visible that is difficult to remove. After the Xpression decals
have dried for the usual recommended length of time, the strippable coating is
removed.
After removal of the strippable coating, the cleaning step can be repeated before
thermal curing, in order to remove all traces of the additive.
The hydrous 80 4515 solution is alkaline and should thus be applied wearing gloves
and suitable protective goggles.
Drying: Afterwards, the decorated articles are dried for at least 60 minutes at 40 °C or for
24 hours at room temperature.
After the drying process the coating on top of the decal (strippable coating 80
2039) is removed completely. Only the high‐grade decoration remains on the
object.
Application errors: As the effectiveness of the additive 80 4515 is dependend on the used substrate
we recommend to test beforehand.
The additive improves the sratch and dishwasher resistance already without
thermal curing. This effect will be much more intensive after thermal curing.
Thermal curing: In combination with the 2C‐ Protective Coat 80 4512 the thermal curing is not
necessary.
Together with the overprinted 1C‐Protective Coat 80 4510 should be cured:
30 min. at 160°C; 20 min. at 180°C or approx. 15 min. at 200°C
Storage: 80 4515 be stored in a dry place at room temperature (15‐25 °C). Always seal
opened drums carefully, making sure they are airtight if possible, as the contents of
opened drums react with the humidity.
We can only guarantee a minimum shelf‐life of 1 year for unopened original drums.
Environment: Waste material treatment, environmental health and safety protection has to
follow the local regulations and legislation.
