It’s All Fun and Games
Play a game–board game, dice game, or
card game–with your family members then
design a cover for the game. Your goal is to
appeal to kids who are shopping for a new
game to play with their families. Draw in
your Friday journal.
Wonder Science
Design your own at-home science
experiment using everyday household
materials. Begin with a question you want
to answer. Write down your questions, list
of materials you will use, step by step
description of the procedure. Check with a
parent for feedback on your plans BEFORE
you conduct the experiment. Run your
experiment and write down and draw what
happens! In your Friday Journals.
Bridge Building Bonanza
Design your own bridge out of straws and
then test if for strength. How many coins
will the bridge hold before it fails. BONUS:
set up a family competition and see who
builds the strongest bridge. Take pictures
and upload to Fresh Grade. Write down 3
things you learned in your Friday Journal.
Family Cooking Showdown
Choose a recipe from a cookbook or
create your own original recipe. Ask
someone in the family to take pictures as
you cook. Document the process of
making your dish with photos and notes
on paper. Include details about
ingredients you used, measurements,
and how it tasted. Upload your pictures
to your Fresh Grade Portfolio
Write a Jingle
Think about an item in your home that
has been useful while you have been
stuck at home. Write a jingle that could
be a commercial to promote this item.
Just Dance!!!
Imagine you are creating your own Just
Dance 4 video for Go Noodle. Make up
your own choreographed routine to a
song of your choice. Then teach to a
family member. If you are feeling brave,
upload a video of your dance to Fresh
Grade. Here’s one idea.
You are the DJ of the Day
Create a playlist that reflects your mood
today. Your playlist must have a
minimum of 10 songs. Give your playlist
a name, describe the overall vibe of your
playlist and explain why you selected
these specific songs. Include this in your
Friday writing journal.
Being Comical
Read an article in the newspaper or a
chapter in a book and draw a comic strip
to show what happened in that article or
chapter. Use interesting drawings and
some words to bring your comic to life!
Super Scavenger Hunt
Create your own scavenger hunt. Choose
your favorite book, song, story, colour,
person, sport, or activity use that as your
theme to create the scavenger hunt with
tricky clues. When you are done, invite a
person in your family to do your hunt
with your tricky clues!
