0 ROUTE SELECTION CRITERIA

Following are the criteria adopted for the route selection of above pipelines:

 New pipeline/cables routing shall follow existing pipeline corridors and access roads where
possible;

 Pipeline/cables shall always be laid above the water table;

 Localized sand dunes shall, however, be removed;

 Blasting of rocky areas shall not be permitted;

 Existing tree and plantation areas shall not be cut or damaged.

The optimum pipeline route is selected considering the following features:

 Shortest possible length;

 Minimum impact on environment;

 Avoiding of unstable ground features;

 Avoiding inhabited areas, industrial areas, public utilities to the maximum extent possible;

 Minimize number of crossings of existing utilities like roads, pipelines, cables, overhead line,
etc.

 Favorable ground profile for pipeline hydraulics;

 Minimizing number of bends;

 Ease of construction;

 Accessibility to route during operation and maintenance;

 Avoiding areas reserved for planned development;

 Ease of ROW acquisition;

 Safe distance from BSP wells(if any).

2.0 PIPELINE & CABLE ROUTE

The above pipeline/cables run between new OGP near existing BLNG facility and manifold at
SCOT.

Location of new OGP is provided as part of FEED drawings (attached in Appendix-XX) and any
change in location of the same is not envisaged. Area for manifold at SCOT also provided as
part of FEED drawings (attached in Appendix-XX) and any change in location of the same is not
envisaged.

The pipeline/cables route corridor for the Merpati pipelines originates from pig launcher at OGP
and ends at pig reciver in SCOT near SAINT 1 receiver location. The corridor is proposed as part
of FEED drawings (attached in Appendix-XX). This proposed corridor is having existing
pipelines / cables/ other utilities.

Study and subsequent site visit was conducted for the above pipeline route and the outcome of
same is depicted in preliminary route map XX-000- (attached in Appendix-X1). The total length of
each pipeline/cables is listed below.

Decription
8” Pipeline Approx. 17.5km
XX FO Cable Approx. 18.5km
XX HV Cable Approx. 18.5km

The PID0047,PID0048, 2 toatl piplines,utility lines are located on one end of the corridor (on the
XX side of the corridor in the main route section). This location is proposed as part of FEED
drawings (attached in Appendix-XX) to meet the BSP requirement. The pipeline and cables are
grouped in same trench. The arrangements of these lines are decided taking into consideration of
easy construction, operation, maintenance and approach to the stations. The preliminary
arrangement of pipelines within the corridor is shown in Figure-1 below:
Figure-1

The topography is varies along the route. In order to keep single low point drain area, the whole
corridor shall be graded by cutting and filling if requed. However, due to the existing facilities like
SEHAT factories, GARISON (mentioned it) cutting and filling is not possible near XX KP
(approximately 500m). At this section, only pipeline shall be deep enough to maintain the slope
towards low point drain area. This shall be attained by non destructive drilling methods (HDD /
micro tunneling etc) as deep excavation at this area may not by possible due to the existing
facilities like SEHAT factories. Other new lines at this section shall follow the existing ground
profile. The proposed low point drain area in the corridor is listed below.

to drain of the surface water

The BSP shall ensure the ‘Town Planning Route Map / Land Development Map’ from concerned
authorities for obtaining the ‘No-Objection’ for the proposed route.

Pig trap locations inside the battery limit of OGP and SCOT shall be shown in the Plot Plans
which shall be developed in course of PROJECT. Any change in start/end point of the pipeline
and cable during development of plot plan shall be captured in the ‘Approach’ drawings.

2.1 Population Density Survey Data

Table-xx below shows the population density survey data for the pipeline and cable based on the
site visits and subsequent desktop study. Location class is selected based on ASME B31.8
clause 840.22.

Table-xx

Sl. Left Side Buildings / Right Side Buildings /

Chainage (m) Class
No. (0m to 200m) Population (0m to 200m) Population
1 OGP Station 2 approx. 0 – 500 15 approx. 2
50 approx.
2 Camp / Mosque Nil Nil 3
(500person)
The pipeline and cable are within/around BLNG and IGP area and can be considered as
industrial area as future development will take place around this area. Therefore class location 3
(design factor 0.5) shall be considered for the safety of pipelines against present/future
developments in this area.

2.2 Recommendation and Conclusion

For the pipeline and cable between OGP and SCOT we recommend to follow the proposed
pipeline route which is shown in the preliminary route map ‘XXXX-000-XX’ (attached in Appendix-
XX). Also, for the pipeline and cable, we recommend to consider location class 3 (design factor
0.5 – check based on the above table in section 2.1) for the entire pipeline and also within plant,
track/asphalt/rig road crossings.
