Auxilary verbs in short responses with “Too, So, Either, and Neither”
Apabila dua kalimat mempunyai dua pokok kalimat yang berbeda tetapi kata
kerjanya sama, kalimat yang kedua bisa diubah dalam bentuk response
pendek dengan kata kerja bantu atau kata kerja “be”. “too” atau “So” untuk
bentuk positif sedangkan “Either” atau “Neither” untuk negatif.
a. Positive form – Too and So
Examples:
1. I like to study English and John likes to study English.
- I like to study English and John does too.
- I like to study English and so does John.
2. I went to Malang yesterday and my boyfriend went to
Malang.
- I went to Malang yesterday and my boyfriend did too.
- I went to Malang yesterday and so did my boyfriend.
3. My mother is beautiful and my sister is beautiful.
- . My mother is beautiful and my sister is too
- . My mother is beautiful and so is my sister.
4. He can do the test easily and I can do the test easily.
- . He can do the test easily and I can too.
- . He can do the test easily and so can I.
6. We called her uncle just now and you called her uncle just now.
- . We called her uncle just now and you did too
- We called her uncle just now and so did you.
- .
b. Negative Form - Either and Neither.
Examples:
You are not from Australia and He is not from Australia.
- You are not from Australia and He is not either.
- You are not from Australia and neither is He.
