QR codes now can be seen everywhere. Be it in shopping malls, UPI, advertising or
even your IRCTC ticket. QR code stands for quick response code which consists of
black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by
any smartphone and has a lots of advantage over traditional bar code. For example
no requirement of bar code scanner, higher capacity and support to multimedia
content and many more.
The use of these QR codes can also be extended in NTPC at innumerable areas, both
at our onsite as well as offsite workplaces as well as at other residential and
nearby locations. For example, QR codes containing critical information regarding
tags, valve/part information, calibration settings or manual and procedure for
operation and maintenance point of view can be pasted on equipment, panels, drives,
valves, tags, etc.
These QR codes at appropriate locations would facilitate the end user to get prompt
and direct access to the most relevant, to-the-point and useful information
pertaining to that particular area, portably and at site itself.. The accessed
information can also be easily stored on mobile phones itself in digital formats
for future use. Also, such encapsulation of all information in small codes would
save paper.
Condenser is the integral part of any power plant which uses CW water to cool the
exhaust steam. 5% of this CW water is bypassed for filteration and the process is
called as sidefilteration. While starting sidefileteration pumps, level becomes
critical to observe and this level is not available in local. Everytime operator
needs to check with control room by phone and thus 3 persons (one to adjust flow,
second to ask on phone in local, third to tell the actual level from control room)
are required.
The local display of level was provided in such a way that it is visible from the
place where the flow adjustment is done. Now the requirement of 3 persons
eliminates and only 1 person can do it easily and the protection of the pumps has
also enhanced.
