Programming instructions for electronic


control unit (ECU)

n WARNING!
Please pay attention to the safety instructions in the
Operator’s and Service Manuals concerned.

Enclosed please find the programming instructions for the elec-


tronic control unit (ECU) for software version 3.0 - 3.21. With this
information all previous programming instructions become
invalid.

L30, L32, L35 - L30B, L32B, L35B


Electronic control unit (ECU), 12 Volt must only be programmed
by following the instructions for software version 3.21.

L40, L45 - L40B, L45B


Electronic control unit (ECU), 24 Volt, must only be programmed
by following the instructions for software version 3.21.

NOTE! Software version (SW) and ECU-serial number can be


found on the EEPROM (see Fig. 1) or can be read via the key-
board extra function "E3" (see programming instructions – read-
ing out of diverse data from the display).

NOTE! If it's possible to go into the programming of the "old"


ECU write down and check all values.
Before starting the programming write a table with all values for
the 8 menus of the relevant machine.

Programming instructions for electronic control unit


(ECU) SW 3.0 – SW 3.21 via the keyboard
Access to the menu is possible when following the procedure
described below.
1 Switch the main battery switch on.
2 Ignition switch in position "0".
3 Press and hold joystick button "N", at the same time switch
the ignition switch to position "1" (ignition). Hold push
button "N" for approx. 3 seconds after turning the ignition
switch to position "1".
4 Press buttons 4 and simultaneously (see fig. 5). No digit
appears on the display fig. 4, pos. 1.

5 Enter the code "3 7 1" via the keyboard (the entry of each
1 digit is represented by a bar in the display 1).

1 Display

6 Now menu 1 appears in the display. This process must be


finished after maximum 60 seconds. Faulty operation in the
sequence 3, 4 and 5, exceeding the time limit or leaving
ignition switch position "1" cancels the possibility to reach
1 2 3 4 menu 1. In this case switch the main battery switch off and
repeat the sequence from point 1.

The right hand field flashes (_).
The machine model is set by entering the following number.
If a wrong figure has been entered, this can be rewritten before
the confirmation.

Display menu 2 (calibration - travel speed)
Here a 4-digit value is entered, this value is taken from the table
km/h min-1x10 of tires.
Check which tires the machine is equipped with.

2 4208 Select the corresponding tire from the table of tires (page 10-
12), read the 4-digit value in the column "lmp/1000m" and enter
it via the keyboard.

Here a 4-digit value is entered, this value is taken from the fol-

km/h min-1x10 its. The five digits are entered via the keyboard. The correspond-
ing position in the display flashes.

km/h min-1x10 display will flash. All adjustments are saved by pressing the key

NOTE! Key can be used to return from any menu , without


accepting the values. Only after confirming the six flashing bars

Reading out diverse data from the display


Level 3 = extra function "E3"
The extra function "E3" is initiated by simultaneous pressing of
the keys "9" and .
Reading in the display "E3" (level 3).
Standard display after switching over to level 3.

E 3

Example:
– Press key (1) = "E3" goes out and the operating hours are
displayed.

The operating hours are displayed as long as the key is


depressed.
Each display function must always be initiated via "E3".
