Firmware datecode and firmware revision
Once the Configuration Page has printed, locate the Firmware Datecode and
Firmware Revision in the Device Information section. These numbers look like this:
Firmware Datecode: 20100831
Firmware Revision: 103067_104746
Caution
HP does not recommend performing a Clean Disk unless an error occurs and the
product-specific Service Manual recommends this resolution. Clean Disk performs
a disk initialization for the entire disk, including the operating system, firmware
files, third-party solutions, and customer-defined settings. This renders the product
inoperable and firmware must be reloaded.

How to perform firmware upgrades
The HP FutureSmart firmware bundle is a .bdl file, and this file type requires an
interactive upgrade method, such as a USB storage accessory, the EWS, or Web
Jetadmin.
Legacy firmware upgrading methods such as FTP, LPR, and Port 9100 are not
currently supported with HP FutureSmart firmware.
When performing a firmware upgrade, verify the product can boot to either a Ready
state or the pre-boot menu.
b. To set the administrator password, click the Security tab and then set the
Local Administrator Password. At the bottom of the page, select Apply.
3. Browse to the firmware file location.

www.hp.com.

firmware bundle on the USB storage accessory. This indicates whether the
firmware on the USB storage accessory is an older or newer firmware
version than what is currently installed on the product. Select OK to close
the message.
9. Once the product is in a Ready state, print a configuration page to verify the
new firmware is installed.
