APPLICATIONS AND INTERPRETATIONS

CATALINA NARANJO OSUNA

DIET

Experimental question: What amount of lent, meat, and zuquini do you need
in order to have you request?

First step:
Height: 1.52cm
Weight: 46 kg
Using the calorie calculator online, find the amount of calories I should eat
per day to maintain my weight or loss. The table of results:

Maintain weight 1,607 100%

Calories/day
Mild weight loss 1,357 84%
0.25 kg/week Calories/day
Weight loss 1,107 69%
0.5 kg/week Calories/day
Extreme weight loss 607 38%
1 kg/week Calories/day

Second step: Taking account the result of the previous table, for the
calculations the number that will be used is the maintain weight which is
1,607 calories/day, then this number is divided into 3 which is the number of
foods per day.
1,607 ÷ 3= 535.6 cal/food
These number will be used for the rest of the process.

Third step: The ideal porcentajes of the quantities of: Carbs, proteins, and
fats a person should eat on each food is shown in this pie chart:
Food amount

Proteins
Carbs 30%
40%

Fat
30%

Fourth step: Taking into account the previous percentages, there are needed
to make 3 operations of the quantity of fat, proteins and carbs in this case
should be eated per food.
Proteins: Fats:
Amount: Amount:
535.6 100% 535.6 100%
X 30% X 30%
535.6 x 30%= 16070 535.6 x 30%= 16070
16070 x 100%= 160.7 16070 x 100%= 160.7
Proteins per food: 160.7 Fats per food: 160.7
Carbs:
Amount:
535.6 100%
X 40%
535.5 x 40% =21426.6
212426.6 x 100%= 214.26
Carbs per food: 214.26

Fifth step: Then with the results of the preovious step, the 3 values have to
be converted from calories to grams taking the equivalents
Proteins: 1g 4 Macronutrients calories
Carbohydrates: 1g 4 Macronutrients calories
Fats: 1g 9 Macronutrients calories

Proteins: 160.7 cal x 1g Carbs: 214.26 cal x 1g

4 cal 4 cal
= 40.75g/protein =53.56g/protein

Fats: 160.7 cal x 1g

9 cal
= 17.85g/protein

Sixth step: This step is about making a table in which there are included the
nutrients on the meat, zuchini and lent in 1000g

1000 grams Protein Fat Carbohydrates

Meat 203 43 0
Lent 231 17 548
Zuquini 18 5 20

Seventh step: On this step each number of the table has to be dividen by
1000 to convert to grams
203/1000= 0.203 548/1000= 0.548
43/1000= 0.043 18/1000= 0.018
0/1000= 0 5/1000= 0.005
231/1000= 0.231 20/1000= 0.02
17/1000= 0.017

Eight step: Now in this step is needed to determine the variables for the
meat, lent and zuquini
X Meat
Y Lent
Z Zuquini

Ninth step: Make another table containing the variables X,Y,Z and the values
found on step seven with also the values found on step five
Nutrients X Y Z
Protein 0.203X 0.231Y 0.018Z 40.75g
Fat 0.043X 0.017Y 0.005Z 17.85g
Carbs 0X 0.548Y 0.02Z 53.56g

Tenth step: Solve the linear equations on the previous table using the Texas
calculator
1. Press 2nd-matrix-edit-1 CHANGE FOR 3X4
2. Fill table
3. Press 2nd-quit
4. Press 2nd-matrix-math- select B:rref(
5. Press 2nd-matrix-names-select 1
6. Press enter
Eleventh step: Make the result table with the results given on the calculator
X Y Z
Protein 1 0 0 -157.724793
Fat 0 1 0 -93.6847173
Carbs 0 0 1 5244.961255

Conclusion: Based on the result table, as carbohydrates have to be eaten a

40% of each food, it always be greater than the protein and fat number that
has to be eaten, and the negative numbers on protein and fat mean that the
quantity that has to be eaten of those is subtracted to the number of
carbohydrates. The numbers of columns X,Y and Z are the quantity of
proteins, fats, and carbs that meat, zuquini and carbs has and which quantity
is appropiate for me.
