My current interests are to develop a research project with the purpose of mapping the main colour vision skills of colour professionals in
Portugal working in colour quality control in a number of sectors from textile dyeing and printing, through painting, inks, plastics, fashion,
graphical and fine arts, automotive, packaging, and other colour-related industries.

This colour-vision-skill mapping can be achieved by the application of a set of three different colour
vision skill tests, including pseudo-isochromatic plates, the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test, and
the Hue/Value/Chroma Colour Vision Skill test, following the procedures found on the ASTM
E1499 - 97(2003) Standard Guide for Selection, Evaluation, and Training of Observers.

Further on, the results from the above-cited research may lead to an application to the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) which
aims to support workers as to facilitate their reintegration into employment, mainly in regions and sectors which have been disadvantaged by
exposure to the globalised economy (Portugal included, particularly in the textile sector). More specifically - among other topics - the EGF
will finance tailor-made retraining which aims to bring colour quality control staff up to the level of formation required by current markets.

Accordingly, further research developments may include a colour training program in order to develop the colour vision skills of observers
with normal colour vision, but who may have performed bad during their first assessment. For this purpose, additional colour training mate-
rial is available from the Munsell Student Color Charts and the Japanese Colour Aptitude Tests (Colour Triangle, Colour Attributes and Magni-
tude of Colour Difference).
