This letter is in recommendation of Ian Hansen. Ian has taken several music education methods courses with me and I
am supervising his student teaching as he completes his California Teacher Credential program at Sonoma State University. Ian
is an adult student who has successfully balanced full time work and owning his own business with the rigor of completing an
undergraduate degree in music education. I believe that his maturity and rich life experience uniquely prepare him for the many
challenges that novice educators face their first years in the profession. During the student teaching process, I have seen Ian take
on a very challenging middle school band class and turn these students around by providing a well disciplined and productive
learning environment. He has an invaluable talent for reaching his students in a way that is both strong and caring. It is without
reservation that I recommend Ian for a teaching position in the field of music education.
