ENG/ENG 7 Update for April 20, 2020


Dear students and families, April 20, 2020

Congratulations on completion of yet another virtual week of lessons! I hope you enjoyed
listening/reading to HOOT chapters 6-8. Next week, we will ease into the transition of going to our
new platform to connect virtually using GOOGLE CLASSROOM! I have sent the link to student’s
district’s emails (student number with three digits of last name@lc-ps.org). Please join by logging
in and accepting the invitation!

UPDATES/CHANGES
• I will continue to update our website and lessons one week at a time.
• PLEASE CONTINUE TO CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR UPDATED DAILY LESSON PLANS UNDER THE
TAB CALLED, “APRIL LESSONS” ON THE WEBSITE: www.ciacchella.weebly.com.
• Seventh graders should LOGIN to GOOGLE CLASSROOM each of our instructional days.
• Online Attendance: Per district requirements, please LOG-IN to our GOOGLE CLASSROOM
on designated days/times set/required by the district for your English period (SEE BELOW).
• We will be delaying our Daily Language, Daily Reading, and Daily Writing until further
notice.
• Lessons will be a bit more simplified to help aide with the transition to the new platform.
• Paper is not necessary and printing paper is not necessary.
• Students will need to submit any and all assignments IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

GOOGLE CLASS CODES


Your seventh grader must login to GOOGLE CLASSROOM with their assigned lc-ps.org district email
(student number + first three digits of last name) ex. 100025tri@lc-ps.org. This is the one linked to
their PowerSchool account. ALL STUDENTS HAVE FORMALLY BEEN SENT AN INVITATION TO JOIN OUR
SPECIFIC HOUR FOR ENGLISH.

Please see the list below for each hour’s code, if the invitation did not go through. YOU MAY ONLY
USE YOUR DISTRICT EMAIL ADDRESS. The meeting times of when I will be online available to help
my English students is mandated by the district. If your student cannot login at that specific time,
they may still login throughout the day/week. This is essentially my time available to that specific
hour and will have a little activity scheduled to do in GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

Q4 GRADING POLICY
According to the letter sent home from our Superintendent, your student will have assignments
now that will count for CREDIT/NO CREDIT. Quarter 4 officially begins on May 4th. This week’s
assignments should be turned in and submitted in GOOGLE CLASSROOM. Each time your student
submits, points will be added for a total of CREDIT.

This will be another couple of weeks of adjustment for us all and your family’s physical health and
mental well-being will continue to be our utmost priority going forward. If at any time your seventh
graders are unable to complete something on the day it is formally assigned, please turn it in when
you can.

platform during the duration of our upcoming E-School days for the duration of the school year. We will only read ONE
additional chapter in HOOT as we ease into this transition.

READ! READ! READ! Students, reading EACH day is the BEST activity! Read one, two, ninety-nine or
more! Take this time to learn to enjoy your reading as opposed to being assigned reading. Ask
yourself questions about the antagonist, protagonist, how the characters change and develop,
setting, theme, central idea of chapters, which quotes resonated with you and why?

WRITING
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! Students, as you work on writing, take this time to journal and work on a free
writing entry each day. Journal your experience, your thoughts, your feelings. Creatively write and
create a new fictional story! Write a letter to a grandparent or friend. Think of ways to express
yourself in writing! Who knows, perhaps YOUR new story might get published one day into a best-
selling novel! Work on writing a written response to the newspaper article or magazine you read.
The goal is to keep writing!
