A Detailed Lesson Plan in MATHEMATICS 7

I. Objective:

At the end of a 60-minute discussion, the students should be able to:

 Determine the circumference of the circles;

 Apply the formula of circumference c = π d
 Appreciate the use of circumference of a circle formula in solving real-life
situations.

II. Subject Matter:

 Topic: Circumference
 Materials: Instructional materials, Power Point Presentation and Black board
 Reference: Mathematics Module Learning

III. Procedure:
Teacher Activity Student Activity
A. Daily Routine

1. Prayer
(the students will pray)
“Before we start our lesson for
today, let us pray, kindly lead the “Good Morning Ma’am!”
prayer Rafael”
2. Greetings
“Good Morning Class!”

3. Cleaning
“Ok! Class before you take your sit, “None Ma’am”
kindly pick up the pieces of paper or
trash under your chair and lastly,
arrange your chair properly.”
“You may now be seated”

4. Checking Attendance
“Is there any absentee for today? “Our last topic is about circle”
“Wow! Very Good class!
“A Circle is a simple closed shape. It is the
set of all points in a plane that are at a
given distance from a given point, the
B. Review center; equivalently it is the curve traced
out by a point that moves so that its
“Now what is our last topic?” distance from a given point is constant.”
“Very Good!”
“Okay, what is Circle?”
“Very Good!”
“Before we tackle our next topic, do you
want to play the game? the name of the
game is Describe myself?” “Yes Ma’am”
“Direction: When I play the music, you will “A line segment whose endpoints are on a
pass the ball to your seatmate. And when circle”
the music stops, I will flash the lines and
segments related to a circle that needs to
be posted on, you need to identify and
describe what part of the circle is.”
“Is that clear?”
“Okay, what is a chord?” “A line that intersect a circle in exactly one
“Very Good!” point”
“Now, please identify it on the board, just
put this straw on the circle given.”
“Very Good!” “A line that intersects a circle in two
“Next, where can you place this straw to points”
describe the tangent”
“Very Good! What is tangent?
“Very Good!”
“How about Secant?” “A diameter is chord that passes through
“Very Good!” the center of the circle.”
“How would you describe a secant?”
“The distance from the center of the circle
“Very Good!”
to its outer rim”
“Another one, where is the Diameter?”
“Go to the board.”
“Very Good, what is Diameter?” “An arc that is shorter than a semi-circle”
“spectacular”
“Next, how about is radius?”
“Very Good! What is radius?” “An arc that is bigger than a semi-circle”
“Excellent!”
“How about the Minor Arc?”
“What is Minor arc?”
“Very Good!” “No, Ma’am”
“And the last one, Major Arc” “We call it as circumference.”
What is Major arc?
“Very Good”
C. Motivation
“Now, what if the arc is extended all over
the circle? Can we still say that it is still a
major arc? “Circumference refers to the total distance
“Therefore, what can we say about the around the outside of the circle. It can be
distance around the circle? also be called the Perimeter of a circle”
“Very Good!”
D. Lesson Proper

“Our topic for today is about

Circumference”
“What is Circumference?”

“As it was shown on the board the distance

around the circle is called circumference.”
“And, this is our formula to get the “C stands for Circumference”
circumference of a circle”

“What do you think is the meaning

Formula: “π (Pi) – we approximate it using
of C?” 3.14 to be exact its approximation is
C = π d or C=2 π r
“Very Good!” 3.1416”
“How about the pi π ? ”
“D stands for Diameter”

“It passes through the center of the circle”

“Very Good!”
“And how about D?”
“R stands for radius”
“What is Diameter again?”

“Excellent!” “Yes Ma’am”

“How about r?”
“Are you following class?”
For example:

A 12 cm B
Line Segment AB

“Where is the diameter in the circle?”

“Very Good!”
“The length of the diameter of the given
“What is the length of the Diameter?”
circle is 12 cm.”
“Very Good”
“To solve the circumference of a circle, we
need to”
“substitute to the given”
“what is pi?
“What is the given length of a diameter?”
“The value of pi is 3.14”
“Next multiply the pi and diameter”
“What is the result?”
“Are you following class?” “The given length of the diameter is 12cm”

“next example”

4.5
8 inin “The total circumference with the given
length of the diameter of 12cm is 37.68cm”

“Yes Ma’am!”
“What is the given length of a diameter?”
“Very Good!”
“What is the formula?”
“Very Good!”
“Now, multiply the pi and diameter”
“What is the result?”

8 in

“The length of the given diameter is 4.5 in”

“To solve the circumference, first write the

formula”
“This time we will use the radius. And what “C = π d”
is the formula?”
“Very Good!”
“Next, substitute the value pi and radius”
“what is the value of pi?”
“What is the given length of a radius?” “The total circumference with the given
“If we will be using the formula C=2πr” length of the diameter of 4.5in is 14.13 in”
“what is r stands for?
“Very Good!”
“So, what is the result of 2 times pi times
radius?”
“Very Good!”
10 cm

“this is another type of example of a radius”

“So, what is the given length of a radius?”
“Very Good!”
“Next 2 times the pi and radius” “C = 2 π r”
“What is the result?”
“Very Good!”
E. Application
“Now, I will group you into two”
“this column will be the Group 1”
“And another column will be the Group 2”
“And every group there should be one
“The value of pi is 3.14”
representative. The representative will be
your writer on the board and will explain
“The given length of the radius is 8in”
his/her answer in front of the class”
“I will flash the 5 given length of a diameter
or radius you need to get the
circumference of a circle”
“R- stands for Radius”
“The winning group will receive additional
points on your recitation.”
“Are you ready class!” “The total circumference is 50.24in”
“okay Number 1!”
1. The length of the diameter is 30 cm
“Very Good!”

“okay number two”

2. “how about if the length of the

radius is 20.5in”

“Very Good!”

3. “Next, if the length of the diameter is “The given length of the radius is 10cm”
17.8 mm”

“Very Good!”

4. “number 4, if the length of the

radius is 50.6 m” “The total circumference is 62.8cm”
“Very Good!”
5. “Okay number 5, if the length of the
diameter is 100.8 cm”
“Very Good!”
F. Generalization

“Okay now, what have you learned for

today?”
“Very Good”
“What is circumference?”

“Very Good!”
“Again, what is the formula of
circumference?”

“Very Good!”
“Do you have any question about our topic?

“Okay, if there’s no question, let’s have an

activity”

“yes ma’am!”
G. Valuing
“Always remember that we should
always put God in the center in the
circle of our life.” “The total of circumference with the
diameter of 30cm is 94.2”

“The total of circumference with the radius

of 20.5in is 128.74in”

“The total circumference with the diameter

of 17.8 mm is 55.892”
“The total circumference with the radius of
50.6m is 317.768”

“The total circumference with the diameter

of 100.8 cm is 316.512”

“I learned, how to get the circumference of

a circle”

“Circumference is the distance around the

circle. Like the perimeter”

“Circumference = Pi x Diameter ”
“C= π d or Circumference = 2 Pi x Radius
C= 2 π r”

“none ma’am”
