COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Overview of Intellectual Property; Trade Marks; Law of Copy Rights; Law of Patents; Trade
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
CEO1. To gain knowledge and significance of Intellectual Property Rights and its types,
organizations, various treaties and law of copy rights and to follow ethics in Intellectual
Property Rights.
CEO2. To develop skills, to analyze various IPR procedures, registration and evaluation process,
to create awareness on protection for acquisition of trademarks/copy rights/patents and
audit programs.
COURSE OUTCOMES: After successful completion of this course, student will be able to:
CO1. demonstrate the conceptual knowledge and significance of Intellectual Property Rights
and its types, organizations, various treaties, law of copy rights.
CO2. analyze the processes of registration, protection and acquisition of trade mark/copy
rights/ patents and to prepare the reports with adhering the ethics of IPR.

DETAILED SYLLABUS:
UNIT - I: INTRODUCTION TOINTELLECTUALPROPERTY (11 Periods)
Introduction and the need for intellectual property rights (IPR), types (patent, copyright, trade
mark, design, geographical indication). International organizations, agencies and treaties. Case
studies on turmeric, neem, and basmati rice.
