remains as a difficult task for
most people. And while some
claim that it is easier said than
done. Waste disposal should
be one of the many tasks, whether
indoors or outdoors, that is always done
properly.
Waste management is an action required
to manage waste from one place to another.
This includes the collection, transportation,
treatment and the final, disposal of waste. This
also includes the monitoring and regulation of
the process of managing waste. There is an
act regarding the provision of an ecological
solid waste management program and
incentives that deals with the ecosystem. This
act is also known as the RESPUBLIC ACT
9003.
This act was implemented on January 2001, and has brought about
mixed opinions in the proper managing of waste disposal. Three
Environmental Officers and a few residents were interviewed to know what
their opinions and perspective are regarding the proper disposal of waste.

A. “YES”

II. DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE OR WORKERS IN MAINTAINING THE

CLEANLINESS OF YOUR BARANGAY?

B. “ Yes, mayroon na kaming environmental army at sila ang nagpapanatili ng

kalinisan sa barangay naming.” (Yes, we have an environmental army that keeps the
cleanliness in our barangay a must )

III. DO YOU HAVE ORDINANCES OR LAWS IMPLEMENTED TO PROMOTE THE

CLEANLINESS OF YOUR ENVIRONMENT?

C. “ Yes, may mga ordinansa kaming pinatutupad ditto sa aming brangay tulad ng
( Yes, we have ordinances that are already implemented in our barangay such as: )

“ Bawal magsunog ng basura,

bawal magtapon sa mga
pribadong lugar at lalong lalo na
bawal magtapon sa lawa” (No
burning of garbage, No throwing of garbage
in private properties and ofcourse No
Bawal din magtapon sa canal. May mga City Ordinance din kami, at sinisigurado naming
ang mga tamang pagtatapon ng mga tao ng kanilang basura. (Throwing of garbage in the
canals is highly prohibited. We, also have city ordinances that ensures the proper disposal
of waste)

IV. ARE THE GARBAGE IN YOUR BARANGAY COLLECTED EVERY WEEK?

D. “ Yes, everyday ang pagkuha ng basura dito sa barangay namin. May oras din ang
pagkuha basura dito sa amin. Kailangan eight o’clock ilalalbas na ang basura at ten
o’clock ang pag cut ng pagkuha ng basura “ (Yes, the garbage is collected everyday.
There is an appropriate time for collecting garbage. It is a must that the garbage at
every house is outside by eight o’clock and ten o’clock is the official cut of collecting
garbage)

(We tell people off once we see that their
garbage are outside at the wrong time as

E. “ Yes. May mga signs kami na nakakalat sa barangay naming na nagpapanatili ng

maayos na pagtatapon ng basura “ (Yes, we have sign spread throughout our barangay
that ensures the cleanliness and the proper disposal of their waste)

A. “Araw araw sa umaga naglilinis, naghuhugas ng plato, nagwawalis ng bakuran and

then yung mga basura itatapon ng maayos” (Every morning, cleaning is a must, then
wash the dishes, afterwards, I will clean the back of our house and then the garbage will
be thrown out properly)

II. ARE YOU AWARE OF PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL?

B. “Oo naman. Itinatapon ko sa tamang basurahan yung mga basura” (Yes ofcourse. I
throw our trash in the proper area)

III. DO YOU THINK YOU FOLLOW THE IMPLEMENTED RULES OF PROPER WASTE
DISPOSAL?

C. “Oo naman” (Yes)

IV. IN YOUR OPINION, DO YOU THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE PROPER
DISPOSAL OF WASTE?

D. “Oo naman, mahalaga yon. Kasi para sa atin din yon, para sa kalusugan natin at
para sa ikabubui natin” (Yes. It is important because it is for the sake of our health and
for the benefit of all)

V. IN WHAT WAYS ,DO YOU THINK PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL COULD BE

GUARANTEED?

E. “Katulad nga ng sabi ko kanina, araw araw maglinis, mag ipon ng basura at itapon sa
tamang basurahan, maglinis ng bahay lalong lalo na yung c.r” (Like I said before,
cleaning everyday is a must Throwing the garbage collected within he house into the

E. “Sundin mo lang dapat yung tamang pagtatapon, halimbawa sa nabubulok doon mo

ilalagay yung mga basura na dapat doon saka sa di-nabubulok yung mga basura na
dapat doon. At syempre, itapon sa tamang basurahan ang mga basura” (Follow the
proper disposal of wastes. For example, separate the biodegradable ones, and of course,
dispose your waste properly)
