Getting Started
Selecting the Vehicle Model and Options
All available model configurations are shown upon launch of this window.
To open a particular EWD, click on one of the icons at the right of the list.
1. entering a VIN or
2. using the model filters

VIN Entry
If you have the VIN, enter it to narrow the list of possible EWDs.
Note: If you have the HDS connected, the VIN will be automatically filled in.
Note: Entering a VIN may not always shorten the list to one because the VIN does not include emission (KA, KC, KL, etc) and options (Navigation, Auto A/C,
etc).

Model Filters
If you don’t have the VIN, you can narrow the list by using one or more of the model filters:
a) Emission
b) Line, Body, Engine
c) Transmission
d) Grade
1. Use the model filter pull-downs to match the vehicle you are working on.
2. Click the icon to open the desired EWD.

EWD Overview
Upon launch, the EWD provides pop-up tips indicating steps to begin use of EWD tools.
Layout
The screen of the EWD is split into the following three panes:
Main Pane

The Main pane utilizes buttons for the user to select EWD functions. Some of the buttons are common across multiple
sections of the EWD while the rest are unique to a specific section. Refer to “Using the EWD” for details of each section’s
buttons.
Sections
The EWD is broken down into six sections which are listed in the Navigation tree on the left.
Click on Home to return to the VIN entry screen to select a new model.
Click on How To Use The EWD to launch the EWD General Information document.
Click on Schematics to open the list of system schematics. Click on either a system name or the icon to access sub-
system schematics. Clicking on the system link (system name) launches that schematic in the Main pane.
Click on Fuse List to view a list of all Fuses within the Main pane.
Click on Ground List to view a list of all Grounds within the Main pane.

Click on Component Locations to view a list of all component location images available for this model.
Schematics

Schematics are broken down by vehicle system. The last three schematics in this list (Fuse/Relay Box, Junction Box,
and Junction Connectors) are typically accessed from a click within a system schematic and provide additional schematic
detail.
Clicking on a schematic within the Navigation pane pulls up that schematic within the Main pane. It also populates the
Details pane with all Components (Comp.), Fuses, Grounds, Relays, and YOP Connectors available on that particular
schematic.
Note: The schematic you have chosen appears in the lower left hand side of your screen.

Clicking an item in the Details Pane will automatically select and center that item within the Main Pane. A will appear
next to the selected item. The check mark indicates that this item is active. Once active, the tabs across the top of the
Details Pane also become active enabling links to other details for that item.

Navigating (Main Pane Buttons)
Click on Forward button to view a screen you viewed before clicking on the Back button.
NOTE: The part you selected on the last screen you viewed will still be highlighted when you click back to that screen.
Press the Zoom Out button to shrink the schematic, and press the Zoom In button to enlarge it. The
current magnification percentage is shown on the pull-down menu. You can also select the magnification percentage
directly from the pull-down menu, or zoom in or out using your mouse wheel. The position of the schematic on the screen
does not change when you zoom in or out.
Click the Show All button to reset the scaling and display the entire schematic on the screen.
CENTER
Select a part, and click on the Center button to re-center the diagram around that part.
PAN
POP-UPS
When you mouse over a part, a pop-up appears that displays basic wiring information for that part. The following are some

Home
The Home tab within the Details pane populates with all Components, Fuses, Grounds, Relays, YOP Connectors,
Circuits, and Connectors available on the current schematic.

Connector
The Connector tab provides the connector view, gender, terminal number, wire colors, and terminal name for a
connector selected within the main pane.
NOTE: Male terminals are numbered from right to left, and female terminals are numbered from left to right looking from the terminal side.
Click on the Connector tab after selecting a connector within the schematic. The terminal view of the selected
connector will appear in the Details pane. If you click on a blue terminal number, the schematic will move to focus on that
terminal.

Click these buttons to toggle between male terminal view and female terminal view.

NOTE: Generally speaking, Male terminals are numbered from right to left, and female terminals are numbered from left to right looking from the wire side.
Ground
The Ground tab provides the ground information for the selected ground.

Location
The Location tab provides an illustration of the location of the item (connector, fuse, ground, or component)
selected. The corresponding item is highlighted in the illustration and the selected part is called out.

Selecting the Location tab for Fuses and Relays in a Fuse/Relay Box will show the Fuse/Relay Box with the selected item
highlighted along with a second image showing the location of the Fuse/Relay Box in the vehicle.
Find
The Find tab provides a list of all schematics that contain the item (connector, fuse, ground, or component)
selected.

Show Me How!
Clicking on the Show Me How! tab populates the Details pane with information on How to Use the Details pane
tabs.
In the Menu pane, click on Fuse List for a list of fuses and links to corresponding schematics and fuse/relay box locations.
Click on Ground List for a list of grounds and links to corresponding harness/component locations and circuit diagrams.

FUSE LIST
If you click on a link to a schematic in the results list, the schematic appears, with the fuse highlighted in the center of the
Main pane. If you click on a fuse/relay box, the box diagram appears, with the fuse called out.

GROUND LIST
If you click on a link to a component location illustration in the results list, the illustration appears, with the ground called
out.

If you click on a link to a schematic, the circuit diagram appears, with the ground highlighted and in the center of the
screen.

You can view the components of a circuit in their corresponding locations in a vehicle illustration or a fuse/relay box
diagram.
