Input, Output and Storage devices

Input device- An input device is a hardware or outer device used to send data to any
computer.
a.     Mouse- A mouse is an input device because when you click on the mouse the mouse
sends its signals to the computer and the action happens.
b.     Keyboard- A keyboard is an input device because when you press a key on the
keyboard, it sends a message to the system and then the letter is appeared on the monitor.
c.     Touchpad- a computer input device in the form of a small panel containing different
touch-sensitive areas.
d.     Trackball- a small ball that is set in a holder and can be rotated by hand to move a
cursor on a computer screen.
e.     Biometric devices- is a security identification and authentication device
f.      MICR- is a technology used to verify the legitimacy or originality of paper documents,
especially checks.
g.     Joystick- a lever that can be moved in several directions to control the movement of an
image on a computer or similar display screen.
h.     Webcam- a video camera connected to a computer, allowing its images to be seen by
Internet users.
i.      Graphics tablet- an input device consisting of a flat, pressure-sensitive pad which the
user draws on or points at with a special stylus, to guide a pointer displayed on the screen.
j.      Scanner- a device that scans documents and converts them into digital data.

Output devices- An output device is any device used to send data from a computer to
another device or user. Most computer data output that is meant for humans is in the form of
audio or video.
a. Printer- a machine for printing text or pictures, especially one linked to a computer
b. Plotter- a piece of equipment that marks out points on a chart.
c. Speaker- (I know what it is)

Storage Devices- a piece of computer equipment on which information can be stored.


a.              Hard disc- a rigid non-removable magnetic disk with a large data storage
capacity. It has a large storage capacity; but hard disks can crash which stop the computer
from working.
b.              USB- is the most popular connection used to connect a computer to devices such
as digital cameras, printers etc. they are small and light, some are small so easily misplaced.
c.              CD-ROM- a compact disc used as a read-only optical memory device for a
computer system. It can be easily broken, but it has high data stability.
d.              DVD-ROM- a DVD used in a computer for displaying data.
e.              Blu-Ray- a format of DVD designed for the storage of high-definition video and data.
It has a huge storage capacity.
