Championship Poll Normal, Ill. – Illinois State Men’s Golf has been voted as the unanimous favorite to win the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. This is the second year in a row the Redbirds have been voted unanimously to win the championship. Illinois State will wrap up a successful regular season at the MVC Championship. Among the many accolades earned, this season includes ten MVC Golfer of the Week honors from David Rauer (1), Joel Durnford (2), David Perkins (3), and Trent Wallace (4), tournament victories at the Badger Invitational and Boilermaker Invitational, and two medalist honors from Joel Durnford at the Dayton Invitational and Wallace at USF Invitational. “The vote of my peers is certainly validation of the strong season we’ve had, and I would much rather be the unanimous pick to win than anywhere else,” said coach Ray Kralis. “But we aren’t taking anyone lightly or anything for granted. I know our season has prepared us for the challenge ahead, and we’ll be ready to compete from start to finish.” Illinois State will compete against Southern Illinois, Missouri State, Bradley, Drake, Loyola, Valparaiso, Evansville, and UNI.
