HIC PRIVACY POLICY
Introduction
HIC Inc. is committed to protecting the information of its customers and employees and is
responsible for the use and protection of their private information. HIC, Inc. understands the
importance of protecting one’s privacy and respects its customers concerns about privacy. This
Privacy Policy explains the policies and procedures regarding the information that HIC, Inc.
collects from or about its customers. All information is collected in order to better assist the
customers of HIC, Inc. HIC, Inc. wants its customers to be comfortable and confident that the
information collected, used, and shared is safeguarded. The Privacy Policy states how the
company can be contacted in the case of questions or concerns.
As a California company, we are required by both federal and state law to protect the privacy of
your PHI and provide you with this Privacy Policy about how it protected and used. By working
with HIC, Inc. and providing the company information, you are agreeing to the terms of this
Privacy Policy.
Confidentiality
HIC, Inc. keeps your information confidential. We never share your personal information with
any third party and never use your information for anything other than was is needed to provide
you with the best health insurance. HIC, Inc. protects the privacy of its customers and safeguards
their information. Information collected from our customers will never be sold or shared to
anyone else for any purposed other than what is stated in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
The information that HIC, Inc. collects includes:
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI)
Personal information is information that can be connected to someone through certain
identifiers, such as: name, Social Security number (SSN), driver’s license, state identification
card, account number, credit/debit card, passport, or alien registration numbers, as well as
other items. Personal information does not include publicly available information that is
lawfully made available to the general public from federal, state or local government records
or widely distributed media. Our policies do not allow for the disclosure of personal
information and it is only shared externally when required by federal or state laws. Internally,
the company has limited access and is only used when required or applicable to law. Cleared
employees with the required need to know are the only ones authorized to access this
information.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires the
protection of individually identifiable health information. Our Privacy Policy explains how
your health information may be used and/or disclosed and how to access this information in
accordance with HIPAA (2013).
Non-personal Information (NPI)

Besides personal information, HIC, Inc. may also collect information that is not identifiable.
We may gather user information such as the number of users and the pages or data that was
accessed, to allow us to manage our application and provide better functionality to the
customer. We do not sell or share any personal information provided unless authorized or
required by law. This data is managed by our internal system administrators. We may work
with third party service providers for the use of our applications. They are not permitted to
collect any personal information and this data is only used for a better understanding of the
application and/or to customize content and advertising. This information is authorized to be
viewed by company employees as well as third parties. The California Online Privacy
Protection Act of 2003 (CalOPPA) requires that collected information and the third parties
that the information is shared with is stated in this Privacy Policy (2019).
Corporate Data
All corporate data that does not contain personal customer or employee information is
protected by HIC, Inc. There is no right to privacy for employees in regards to company data
and the actions that are performed on company machines. All internal company information
is managed by the HIC, Inc. system administrators and information is only disclosed when
required by state or federal law, such as the laws stated previously. Access to the internal
information depends on employee need to know, authorization may be revoked at any time as
deemed necessary by the CIO or system administrators. This information is not shared
outside of HIC, Inc. and is used only by company employees.
