Ready to Skyrocket your Korean
skill?

STEP 1
If you chose one of 1, 2, 4, let me ask you the question once again.
What do you think is the most crucial thing for mastering Korean fast?
Let me explain what I mean. Think about the English letter sequence
“ough”. How do you pronounce it? Then try to read this sentence.
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
Single letter sequence “ough” has at least 5 different pronunciations.
I got so frustrated that I searched Wikipedia.
/oʊ/as in though (cf. toe).
/uː/as in through (cf. true).
/ʌf/as in rough (cf. ruffian).
/ɒf/as in cough (cf. coffin).
/ɔː/as in thought (cf. taut).
/aʊ/ as in bough (cf. to bow [the gesture])
“This is fantastic! People say reading Hangul is super easy and can be
mastered within a day! Now I can finally master Korean!”
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
However, the problem is.
Most people who self-study learn it wrong and they fall into the
poisonous pitfall which drag their learning curve down to the flat.

*“ㅇ” only make sounds when it comes at the bottom part (ex. 아 = [a] 앙 = [ang])

Did you get the same one too?
바나나 turned out to be [ba na na]. And yeah, it is banana that you
know. Yellow and delicious one.

How was it?
It feels like if you practice this process multiple times, you will become
perfect at reading Korean, right?
However, if you go above, you will find that I wrote how to “read”
Korean. Which means, there is a little problem with “reading” Korean
like this.
Yeah, you are right. You can read Korean. But the one problem is…
If you took your time to transliterate the Korean words above, you will
get those results
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
Nobody speaks with English-like weird roman pronunciation …
The method you just learned is called Romanization approach. Which
means, you use roman characters to read Korean, and this is truly the
most commonly used method for self-study Korean learners in
modern days. Because it seems super quick, easy, and intuitive.
I personally use this approach in a short vocab video just to intrigue
the interest of mass audiences too. However, if you truly want to
skyrocket your Korean skills in the right way, you need to get away
from romanization.

STEP 3
Now, you are going to learn how to get rid of romanization and
skyrocket your learning curve for mastering Korean. But before then,
let’s examine your current Korean skills.

Score
+13 : You are native Korean!
+10 : One or two adjustment, then you are perfect! You are on the
right track.
+5 : All those questions are very new and strange, isn’t it? That’s
because none of the pronunciation material on the internet goes as
deep and precise as like this. Frankly speaking, there are not many
Korean Pronunciation Materials out there. But don’t worry, I will
teach you everything step-by-step later on.
+1 : You might feel betrayed by the things you’ve learned so far or
think the scorecard is wrong! I will tell you the clear reason. Because
you’ve been studying with Romanization. If you are blinded with
romanization, you can’t learn the Right Korean. Unless you are a
superficial Korean learner, I want to help you get rid of romanization
with the step-by-step guide.
I don’t know at all : Counterintuitively, you are the most advantageous
person right now. Because you can learn Korean with the Right
Pronunciation from the beginning. Fixing the wrong pronunciation is
harder than learning the right pronunciation from the bottom. So
heads up, down below, you will find valuables…
"Good Job!"

STEP 4
3 You know how good or bad you are. Now, it’s time to improve.
Articulator
Articulator
/ärˈtikyəˌlādər/
Approach
noun
any of the vocal organs above the larynx,
including the tongue, lips, teeth, and hard
palate.
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
Articulator approach is a learning method where students learn how
to move their tongue, mouth, and vocal cord for each Korean
alphabet.
Let me tell you why this system is the right answer comparing with
romanization approach.
For example, if you learn how to pronounce Korean letter “가”, with
romanization approach, you learn as “가” is pronounced as “ga or ka”.
This is very simple. Explained in one sentence. However, students
inevitably pronounce wrong because English pronunciation and
Korean pronunciation are fundamentally different. Therefore, those
questions naturally occur. ‘So, is it [ga] or [ka]? What is the right one?’
‘Then what about 카? Isn’t it also [ka]? How can I distinguish?’
On the other hand, if you learn with articulator approach, you learn
like this.
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
Step 1
Learn how to make your tongue for consonant "ㄱ"
Step 2
Learn how to move your mouth for “ㅏ”
Step 3
Start by making your tongue like Step 1.
Pronounce 가 by gently blowing out an air.
At the end your mouth & tongue should be like Step 2.
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
As you can see, articulator approach goes step-by-step with the
physiological explanation. It is more like a muscle training than an
intellectual learning. Brain-muscle combining exercise. The most
fundamental way of learning language.
Some people think of this approach as too fancy or complicated one.
However, this approach is what your parent used to teach your
mother language. Think about how you learned your first language.
Mother demonstrated how to move mouth and tongue. Baby you
trained how to move your articulators. And at the end, that is why you
are so good at your own language.
And I am telling you, that this approach works like a super-power
when it comes to Korean. Because once you master how to read
Hangul, you can basically read & pronounce every Korean!
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
STEP 5
3 You know how good or bad you are. Now, it’s time to improve.
Of course, the best way is to learn from the native Korean people.
Hearing the correct pronunciation, correcting your pronunciation
real-time, and confirming whether you are doing right or not.

However, this book is written for self-study Korean learners. So
alternatively, I made this.
ULTIMATE ROADMAP TO
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
For example, take a look at those vowels -ㅑㅕㅒㅖㅛㅠ
Aren’t they look similar with basic vowels? Yes. You are right. Since it is
a brief roadmap, I am not going to explain every single detail, but you
will instantly know how to pronounce those once you know the 8
basic vowels and simple rule.
Also take a look at the other vowels – ㅘㅝㅙㅞㅟㅚㅢ
Aren’t they look like combinations of basic vowels? Yes. You are right.
You will automatically know those with 8 basic vowels and one simple
rule.
That's it! You already mastered all the Korean vowels!

3
– ㅋㅍㅌㅊ
This is a specially tailored step for you who speak English.
After a lot of teaching sessions with different language background
students, I found learning ㅋㅍㅌㅊ first does the best learning step
for English speakers. Because those have identical pronunciations
with English alphabets – [k] [p] [t] [ch].
Then, if you learn two simple transition rules, you can easily
pronounce ㄱㅂㄷㅈ and ㄲㅃㄸㅉ.
Now you already know 12 consonants!

ㅍ no air

Learn the other consonants
4
- ㄴㅁㄹㅇㅎㅅㅆ
Here, you might struggle with ㄹ and ㅅㅆ.
When you learn ㄹ, tongue position is the key point. And remember
that it is not [l] nor [r] pronunciation. It is the middle in between two of
those. By learning with articulator approach, you will know exactly
where to put your tongue.
When learning ㅅ and ㅆ, remember that you want to make [s] sound
not [sh] sound.
WWW.K-LEARNER.COM K-LEARNER
By following those steps, you will be able to master Hangul and
eventually ready to Skyrocket your Korean skills.
Just like I said, learning Korean without knowing this is like running
hard but toward the wrong way. No matter how you hard you study
Korean vocab, grammar, or sentence structure, if you pronounce
those wrong, you won’t be able to achieve the successful result.
So, if you decided to learn Korean thoroughly, please learn how to
read & pronounce Hangul first above everything.
Your learning
curve will be
