Does recycling household rubbish really make any difference to the planet?

Environmental pollution is one of the largest problems in our modern life. Nowadays
there aren’t any cities and areas that remain unpolluted and clean. Rubbish is a thing
that we don’t need and we throw away. Because of this, tons of garbage are taken to
landfills every day. It’s causing huge damage to the planet. Can we make a difference
by recycling household garbage?

Many people know that recycling helps save the resources of our planet. For example,
to make paper, you don’t need to saw the forest, it’s enough to recycle waste paper.
The less trees are cut the cleaner the air. Furthermore, scientists have proved the fact
that garbage can decompose for hundreds of years. Landfills are overflowing. If people
sort household waste and take it to recycling centers, the amount of garbage in landfills
will be significantly reduced. It means that waste will be less harmful to nature. Many
scientists also warn that the process of recycling is more environmentally friendly
because the rubbish from landfills is burning. It’s very harmful because the gases that
are given off pollute the air.

However, there is another point of view on this topic. Some people think that the
production of secondary raw materials harms nature much more. Others believe that
recycling only creates the illusion that we are helping the planet by distracting from
other environmental problems. For example, some people sure that the rejection of
cars, plastic and others will lead to a better result.

On balance, it seems that the recycling of household rubbish can make a difference to
the planet, but we can’t be completely sure about it because of some facts. In my
opinion sorting garbage and sending it to recycling is better than nothing. If we want to
live in a better and healthier world each of us should contribute to the salvation of
nature, animals, and ourselves.
