ON-LINE VISUAL INSPECTION PROCEDURES AND CHECKLIST
FOR POWER FACTOR CORRECTION CAPACITOR BANKS
Scope This procedure defines the requirements and methods for performing on-line
(capacitors are energized) visual inspections on power factor correction
capacitor banks.
Safety Safety is an integral part of all jobs. As such, all applicable Corporate and site-
specific safety and loss prevention practices and procedures shall be rigidly
applied in the execution of the work described in this standard. It is the
responsibility of the lead person administering this Practice to assure that such
safety related Practices/procedures are identified and followed by all involved.
Because of inherent dangers in any high voltage work, special care must be
taken to safeguard personnel in the inspection of this equipment. Use of
personal protective equipment is mandatory when performing these job tasks.
3 Visual check of fuse elements. Look for blown fuse indicators, etc.
Verify the area around the capacitor bank is clear from obstructions.
