Student Reflection (Thoroughly answer all questions)
How has this clinical rotation helped to define your role as a nurse? Please explain.

This clinical rotation allowed me to experience what nursing is like in a shock trauma unit. I was able to continue to integrate skills
and knowledge I’ve gained throughout my time in the program.

Which objective did you accomplish during this rotation? How did you do it?

During this rotation, I was able to accomplish many objectives relating to both patient care and as a nursing student. I was able to
use critical thinking regarding patients and function as a collaborating team member, implementing compassionate care and
utilizing time management.

What are your goals for your next clinical rotation?

My next clinical rotation will be different from what we’ve been experiencing throughout the nursing program. The rest of our
clinical rotations will be online using a virtual experience. My goal is to continue to learn to work as a nurse and be able to
graduate feeling that I’m ready to provide safe and effective nursing care.

Faculty Comments/ Student Learning Goals (Goals must be established even if performance is satisfactory. If an item was
identified as N or U, narrative comments are necessary to clarify student performance along with goals to improve performance).

My goal is to continue using critical thinking to help discern the appropriate care to provide for patients. Even though we will be
working in a virtual setting, I’m hoping this will continue to provide me with the knowledge and skills I need to be a good nurse.

Heather, I think you continued to grow into the RN role throughout this clinical rotation. I saw you have increased comfort and
confidence in caring for patients. You were able to practice prioritization, delegation, and medication administration frequently and
were able to incorporate clinical knowledge into your practice. At this time you have met course outcomes and are prepared to
begin practicing as a new graduate RN shortly! Congratulations!
