Job purpose

Responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks ranging from ingest, transcode and
playback to tape to finer edits, captioning and processing premium content.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Provide in-house editing skill to other teams

• Manage and create captioning for promos and navigation creating logs and
schedules
• Complete fix, re-caption and small edit jobs that may arrive ad hoc
• Guide freelancers through an overview of internal workflows, systems and
deliverable specifications
• Provide an in-house solution for simple compilation and show reel jobs
• Perform troubleshooting for producers with editing queries as appropriate
• Provide technical knowledge for edit and video related queries,
encode/deliver material

Knowledge, skills, training and experience

Essential
• Experience in a media/production background
• Experience in post production procedures with knowledge of standard
equipment
• Experience of captioning promo material
• Experience of managing a media library within a SAN environment
• Experience of maintaining office and administrative systems and devising
new workflows
• Experience in working with Apple and PC

Desirable
• Previous experience in or awareness of storage servers, along with ingest,
file/drive transfers and sharing of content in the form of large files and
directories in multiple locations within their organisation or with external
customers and partners would be ideal

Reports to (title) Post Production Supervisor
Location base Birmingham

Organisation structure

The BBC Three team has bases in both Birmingham and London. The Executive Producer
oversees the creative team in Birmingham, including BBC Three's Branding and Delivery
team and Edit Hub team.

This Junior Editor role is part of the Branding and Delivery team and reports to the Post
Production Supervisor.

Additional job specific responsibilities and accountabilities

Working to briefs set by the Social Media Team and the Post Production Supervisor
the Junior Editor at BBC Three will:

• Prep AV assets for publication on BBC Three's various social media channels

• Identify material, create clips, reformat material as required for various digital
platforms, and brand, caption and subtitle the content ready for publication

• Edit compilations and mash-ups where required

• Perform simple edit changes and fixes to delivered content where required
