LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10


QUARTER 3
LEARNING AREA:
Physical Education 10
CONTENT STANDARD:
 The learner demonstrates understanding of lifestyle and weight management to promote
societal fitness.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
 The learner maintains an active lifestyle to influence the physical activity participation of the
community and society.
 Practices healthy eating habits that support an active lifestyle.
LEARNING COMPETENCY:
 Determines risk factor related to lifestyle diseases (Obesity, diabetes, heart attack)
TOPIC: SOCIETAL FITNESS
ACTIVE CREATION (Other dance forms- hip-hop and street dance)

RESOURCES NEEDED:
 Laptop, music, speaker, Pictures, Power point presentation of the lesson, cartolina and pen
PROCEDURE
Review
 Execute the dance steps in hip-hop dance. (with music)
Motivation:
 Present pictures of active and inactive lifestyle in a power point presentation.

 Let the learners compare the pictures presented and ask the following questions:
What have you noticed about the two pictures?
What kind of lifestyle do the picture A and picture B has?
What are the benefits of having an active and inactive lifestyle?
Lesson Proper:
Activity
 Group the learners into two groups and instruct them to list down, make a poster or
compose a music/use tune of a song the possible effects of having inactive lifestyle. Give
them 7 minutes to prepare.
 Let them present their group output in the class. Give appreciation to each groups’ effort.
 After which tell the learners that those effects are results of risk factors in life. Then ask
them, what are risk factors in life?
Group Discussion
Ask the learners to discuss the risk factors together with the group on how it affects our
lifestyle. Give them 5 minutes to discuss with the group and 3 minutes to present it to the
class.

Genetics, Age, Physical make-up, Gender
 Modifiable risk factors
Eating habits, Physical activity, habits (example vices)

 Do’s and Don’ts to have an active and healthy lifestyle


DO’s
Engage in recreational activities (example: hip-hop dance)
Eat nutritious food like vegetables and fruits
Have enough rest/sleep on time
DON’Ts
Avoid fatty and high cholesterol foods
Do not smoke
Avoid alcoholic beverages
Do not ever use prohibited drugs

ASSESSMENT:
Direction: Determine the risk factors in each scenario.
1. Johnny is a call center agent. Because of the nature of his work he spends less in sleeping that’s why
he developed anemia.
2. Mike is a nurse and his schedule is in night shift. He used to smoke 1 pack of cigarette during free
time to relax on a toxic duty. He then acquired COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).
3. A grade 10 student used to hang out with his “barkadas”. They spend their time together in drinking
alcohol beverages. Most of the time in school they are not participating, and they often escape
classes.
4. Out of curiosity at the age of 14 Donald started using prohibited drugs. Now that he reached the age
of 18 he now became addictive to it that he suffers tremors, weight loss and worst he is experiencing
hallucination.
5. Jenny works in a company where she spends most of her time sitting and working with her computer.
At her house she spends her time reading books or watching television before going to sleep. After a
year she gained too much weight and hypertension.
6. Nina is weightlifter when she was in high school but after losing in a Palarong Bicol she quit. She is
now 60 years old and she can’t carry heavy objects because of brittle bones.
