Alternate History

There will always be a debate on who is the greatest basketball player of all time. LeBron
James is on that list. He has multiple MVP awards, has multiple championships, and has better
stats than most players who have ever stepped on the court. LeBron got drafted out of high
school and was selected as the number 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ohio is
LeBron’s home, so he was excited when he found out he was going to stay in his home state.
In his first spell with the cavaliers, LeBron made the playoffs a few times, but he never
managed to win a championship. He then went on to Miami where he made the finals and won
multiple times and then returned for to Cleveland because he had “unfinished business”. In his
return made the finals and played against one of the best teams of all time in Golden State
Warriors, and somehow made history by coming back from a 3-1 deficit. He achieved his goL
of winning a title in Cleveland and then moved on to Los Angeles where he plays now for the
LA Lakers. LeBron is a lot of people’s role model for what he does on and off the court. He is
committed to helping out those less fortunate than he is and will do whatever he can to make
sure that he is doing something for the communities that have shaped him into the man he is
today.

LeBron got drafted straight out of High School to Cleveland, but what if he was forced
to go to college for at least one year? If he did then he would have been selected by Orlando in
the next year’s draft and with this team, he would have played alongside better players than he
did in Cleveland. With LeBron on the wheel, Orlando would have maybe made the playoffs and
eventually the NBA finals. In 2010, LeBron was playing some of the best basketball in his
career and we could have witnessed a Kobe vs LeBron NBA finals. The main reason LeBron
returned to Cleveland is because he had unfinished business, but if never got drafted then he
would have left Orlando for a better team and would have never played in Cleveland. He was
eventually going to end up in Los Angeles, so he would have maybe moved to the Lakers
instead of the Heat since he had already played many years in Florida. Orlando fans would
have loved to have LeBron on their team and he would have led them to what could have been
an NBA championship team. In short, if LeBron was forced to play at least one year of college,
Cleveland would not have ever gotten their golden boy, and would still probably be without an
NBA ring. LeBron has changed every team he has been part of for the better and he will
continue to do so throughout the rest of his career. Cleveland got lucky that LeBron was able
to go straight from High School or team’s success would not be the same.
