Tutorial letter 102

Contribution of year mark towards the final mark of a module

In 2007 the marks that you obtain by submitting assignments will contribute to the final mark obtained for the
specific module. This is in accordance with the newly approved Unisa Assessment Policy, as communicated to you
earlier in tutorial letter COSALL 304/2007. The policy outlined in tutorial letter 101 could therefore not be applied.
Instead, the arrangement in 2007 will be in as indicated in tutorial letter COSALL 304/2007:

• The percentage that you obtain for the assignments will be converted to form 10% of the final mark for the
module. This is the ‘year mark’.

• The percentage that you obtain for a specific assignment will be multiplied by the weight allocated to it.
This weight is equal to the maximum number of credits possible for this assignment divided by the total of
the maximum number of credits for all the assignments.

• The examination will form 90% of your final mark for the module.

In accordance with the latest policy of the University, all students who submitted Assignment 01 in time will
receive examination admission.
