One on-going source of potential hotel conflict involves the F&B department and the

sales and marketing department. As a future GM, do you believe that catering event

coordination management should be a part of the sales and marketing department or

the F&B department? Support your response.

Sales and marketing departments are integrating the company's internal processes with

the consumers. They need to learn the fine points of the catering event planning department

as well as the F&B department to be better prepared to respond to customer questions about

the strengths and limitations of the company's internal processes so that they can make

informed marketing decisions and only communicate and demonstrate to customers what they

can accomplish. It will allow them to resolve negotiations more quickly. Nevertheless, the

planning team for catering events is more closely linked to the F&B team than to the

marketing and sales department. Nevertheless, when working closely with the F&B to plan

activities that generate value for consumers, it should be in constant contact with marketing

individuals to maintain a smooth balance between the demand and supply of activities to be

catered. The explanation for my decision is that Catering event coordinators work hand in

hand with the F&B to manage an event, while the marketing department typically has little

contact with these departments when closing deals and exchanging customer reviews.

All personnel in a hotel require training in the responsible service of alcoholic

beverages. How would you explain the need for this training to a new-room service

attendant, front desk clerk, and maintenance department?

Alcohol server training is a type of occupation education offered to sellers, servers,

and consumers for alcohol. Alcohol server training aims at preventing drunk driving,
intoxication, and drinking underage. The law is some countries require that servers and sellers

of alcohol must undergo training to qualify for working in the alcohol industry. Therefore, a

new room-service attendant, front-desk clerk, and a maintenance department employee need

to undergo alcohol server training as part of their responsibility to sell and serve alcohol.

State law and legislation require them to gain knowledge concerning the responsible service

of alcoholic beverages to qualify to sell and serve such beverages. Besides, the hotel has a

responsibility to ensure that its employees have the necessary skills and qualifications to

serve alcoholic beverages. Consumers must be served alcohol in acceptable limits to avoid

intoxicating them which may harm them or those around them. Alcohol server training

involves providing adequate knowledge about alcoholic beverages, requesting for age proof

of consumers before serving them, offering various choices of alcoholic and non-alcoholic

beverages for consumers to choose from, and professional handling of consumers especially

those who get drunk. As part of the responsibilities involved in serving liquor and alcoholic

drinks, the need for this training to a new room service manager, front-desk clerk, and

maintenance department employee is clarified. It is an important part of state law and

regulation. The hotel also must ensure that the individual being served drinks under

reasonable limits and is not intoxicated to risk him or her or others. The preparation involves

providing information on alcoholic drinks being served, collecting customers' age proof and

serving as per industry standards. The personnel will properly manage the customers and

offer the customers preferences of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
