The cruise industry is a modern industry but which is based since 19 th century. Collins
English Dictionary defined that “a cruises is to make a trip by the sea in a liner for pleasure,
usually calling at a number of post.” In recent years, people are more interesting than before
to travel by cruises for their holidays. Special interest of cruise are growing in popularity and
some of cruises are budget cruise which we can considers as a floating low cost hotel.

According to the World Tourist Organization (WTO) (2003), the accommodation and related
resort facilities comprises 75% of the ship with remainder devoted to its operations. Cruises
industry provides and offers food, beverage accommodation, recreational, casino, shopping
and other services. Especially cruises package includes more facilities and special theme
such as disco, flims, swimming pool, Yoga classes, quiet launges, sheltered docks, Library.
Cruises packages is an all inclusive trip by boat or ship for specific days to specific
destinations with a set price. Example, the customer already paid for the whole trip which
include all facilities, accommodations, food and beverage and the trip for their destination.

Type of cruises

According to the Chand M(2006), there are four different types of cruises which are based on
sales, marketing and working conditions of the cruises. They are:

Volume cruises

Volume cruises concentrate on volume turnover. 65% of the all cruises are volume cruise,
also can call mass-market cruises. This kind of cruise is very popular in Caribbean sea, Asia
pacific and South East Asia. Their accommodations and services can compare with the star
hotel.

Premium cruises

This cruises are the second largest segment of cruise in this industry and the duration of this
cruises is from one week to three months depend on the itineraries. Their services are similar
to the class resorts and hotel. Royal cruises, star cruises, princess cruises, Panama canal
cruises

Luxury cruises

This luxury cruises offer more high quality services and focus on long time itineraries from
six months to one year. Usually these cruises are quite expensive and more popular among

the tourist and honeymooners. Royal Caribbean cruises, Crystal cruises, star cruises are
luxury cruises.
