Shoot four Evaluation

Overall I think this shoot was very successful, in my shoot plan I wrote that I wanted
the tone of my photographs to contrast the previous shoot, that created an
uncomfortable and claustrophobic tone, whereas in this shoot I wanted the images to
come across as more clear, and crisp, using bright lighting to help achieve this. This
was partly successful within these photographs. The tone wasn’t achieved in the
closer up photographs of the dishwasher, and also the images that came across as
more abstract. The first photograph in this shoot was successful, as I experimented
with depth of field, and also achieves more of an abstract look in it, however because
I took it close up and used flash it created a claustrophobic tone like the previous
shoot, in contrast mid shots and shots taken from further away were the most
successful images. The tone came across in the way I had planned because the
bright light entered the photographs, and the yellow of the cutlery helped as the
colours were saturated creating a contrast between the dark colours in the previous
shoot. Depth of field was also an element of this shoot that I experimented with and
helped make certain images more successful than others. The photographs wear I
use a medium or deep depth of field made the tone of the photographs less
claustrophobic as the audience doesn’t feel confined in looking at a specific element
of the photograph. The deeper depth of field also made the long shots of the
dishwasher look more symmetrical, as the majority of the photograph is in focus.
Although I think this shoot was successful in contrasting the tone between the
previous shoot, I don’t think it showed moments after a routine in the most
successful way like other shoots have, I also think the shoot would have been more
successful if I had a photographer in mind of who I wanted to base my images of.
