NMS FOR PASOLINK
Network Management System uses the Pasolink Management function in CTRL in the PASOLINK NEO
IDU as the interface for the NMS. The CTRL in each IDU can be configured as one of three types.
NORMAL NE
Normal NE is a data acquisition and control unit. It monitors and controls equipment at some remote location. Its
prime task is to monitor its own alarm items and status and collect statistical data such as Link Performance data
Auto discovery function in the PNMSj is available only for PASOLINK NEO equipment. Inc case other PASOLINK
versions are mixed with the NEO equipment in the same cluster, Net config tool should be used.

R-NE
For this PNMS and Root NE sub-network (A), PNMS uses a subnet mask of 255.255.255.252. (fixed). One
PNMS–Root NE sub network includes 4 IP addresses accordingly. However 2 IP addresses are not available
because one is assigned for network address, the other is reserved for broadcast address.
PNMS uses a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.240 for subnet-B. Therefore one sub-network in CPM/Root NE cluster has 16 IP addresses.
Each sub network can accommodate 16 IP addresses. Available IP addresses for Normal NE/RPM CTRL are 13. Subnet-B is assigned
from 172.20.100.0 to 172.20.100.15. (16 IP Addresses) However 172.20.100.0 and 172.20.100.15 is not available because 172.20.100.0.
is sub network address and 172.20.100.15 is reserved for broadcast address. In addition one IP address is assigned to CPM/Root NE.
Therefore 13 IP addresses (for 13 RPM/Normal NEs) are available in Subnet-B (same as for all other sub network).
In addition IP address for next sub-network (Subnet-C) shall be assigned from 172.20.100.16. (172.20.100.17 to172.20.100.30 is
available), even if Subnet-B has less than 13 NEs (for example only one NE), Subnet-C is started to assign from 172.20.100.17. Operator
can set sub-netmask for each sub-network. For example, 255.255.255.248 can be assigned for Subnet-C in case there is no additional NE
in subnet-C in the future.
One CPM cluster can include maximum 32 sub-networks. Therefore one CPM cluster can accommodate maximum 512 IP addresses(16 IP
address x 32 sub-networks) . This maximum 512 consecutive IP addresses are reserved in PNMS.

PASOLINK NEO has three ports for Back-to-Back connection of NMS signal, NMS(LAN), and
NE2(ASYNC) . The selection NMS back-to-Back connection between the NEs depend on the
type of NEs connected, speed, SYNC/ASYNC, the port used and the type of protocol used.
The different types of connections are indicated by the line color used.
