Shoot Five Evaluation

Overall this shoot was partly successful, some of the images were very successful,
and portrayed the tone that I wanted to achieve, and some of the images weren’t
good in my opinion, however they still portrayed a certain tone even though it wasn’t
intentional. The experimentation within this shoot didn’t go as successfully as I had
hoped, this was because tea staining the images didn’t have as dramatic effect that I
had hoped, I was hoping that the colours of the images would have changed more
dramatically, although a lot of them just changed tone slightly. Although the
experimentation wasn’t as successful as I had hoped, the ideas I had behind it were
strong, which reinforces that this shoot was partly successful. The link between the
photographs of the moments after a routine, and the fact that the images looked like
they hadn’t been looked after was the best link, as it puts the audience in the position
of the individual who does the tidying up, linking back to my research of Clare
Gallagher. Another element of this shoot that was successful was my use of depth of
field, something I look at improving throughout my shoots, and looking at how depth
of field influences the tone and representation of the image, and the subject of the
photograph. As I continue with my project I want to continue looking at the aftermath
and moments after a routine, as it is an interesting and different topic, that I have
continued refining as my project continues, I want to do more research into specific
photographers, using their techniques to try and help improve and interest my own. I
am also going to look at photographing on my phone, to make the images seem
more related to my project, as I have been shooting in my own home, and it would
be interesting to look at how shooting on my phone effects my images.
