Many people contributed to the completion of this
volume, and this acknowledgment conveys sincere grat-
itude for these efforts.
First, and foremost, Elsevier was exceptionally sup-
portive. Natalie Farra stimulated the process from its
original conceptualization, and Kristi Anderson provided
ongoing assistance and encouragement throughout the
entire process of securing chapter author commitments,
collecting chapter submissions, completing necessary
revisions, and verifying that each manuscript and its
accompanying material were ready for the production
team project managers, Karen East and Kirsty Halterman,
who methodically put the finishing touches on the v ­ olume.
Elsevier also provided temporary access to ScienceDirect
to facilitate the identification of chapter authors.
Second, I appreciate the support systems upon which

thank my wife, Laureen, who endured countless hours of

world who are adept at promoting it.
