haravi in Mumbai has become a major hotspot of Covid-19 outbreak in India. The
slum cluster has reported 168 cases so far, with 11 deaths.

On Monday, Asia's largest slum area reported 30 new cases of the novel coronavirus. On
Sunday, the area had reported 20 new cases. The number of deaths due to Covid-19 in
the cluster has reached 11.

Out of 30 new cases, at least 17 were under 35 years of age, with one two-year-old and
another 15-year-old child. Only two cases reported on Monday were above 60 years of
age.

Arresting Covid-19 outbreak in Dharavi poses an exceptional challenge for authorities as

the area is one of the densely populated in the world. Most people do not have enough
space to maintain social distance, thus, making spread of novel coronavirus relatively

Monday, said Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

Most of the fresh infections, 187, were detected in Mumbai (including 30 in Dharavi), the
city worst affected by coronavirus in the state, which leads the nationwide tally.

The other areas where COVID-19 cases were detected on Monday are Kalyan and
Dombivli (16), Thane (21), nine each from Navi Mumbai and Pimpri-Chinchwad, six from
Panvel, seven from Mira Bhayandar, two from Raigad and one each from Satara,
Bhiwandi, Nagpur and Solapur, Tope said.
