Dear parents/carers,

In our English class, we’re now starting Unit 3 of Super Safari. The topic of the unit is
My room. We’re learning about features of a room and furniture and developing social
skills. Your child is continuing to learn English through songs, chants, stories, games
and listening and speaking activities. We also learn how to follow instructions to find
something.

In this unit, your child will learn:

 To name features of a room and furniture: toy box, bookcase, lamp, mat, window,
door
 To answer a question about where objects are: Where’s the/my …? with It’s
in/on/under the … .
 To join in with a chant
 To follow instructions: Look in/on/under the … .
 To join in with a song about furniture and the prepositions in/on/under
 To listen to and follow a picture story
 To appreciate the values shown in the story and to say Be patient.
 To reflect on his/her learning

To help your child progress, you can do the following:

- Ask your child to describe the objects in his/her bedroom. He/She says, for example,
This is my room. The toy box is on the mat.

- Practise using the prepositions with toys and classroom objects. Put items in, on and
under other objects and ask Where’s the (pencil)? Your child answers It’s on the (book).

- Listen to the unit story with your child. Pause and allow your child to repeat the
sentences. The story is available to download on the website.

We hope your child is having fun using Super Safari and enjoying learning lots of new
language!
