Dear parents/carers,

In our English class, we’re now starting Unit 8 of Super Safari. The topic of the unit is
The weather. We’re learning about different types of weather and thinking about how
weather isn’t the same in different countries. Your child is continuing to learn English
through songs, chants, stories, games and listening and speaking activities.

In this unit, your child will learn:

 To talk about the weather: It’s rainy. It’s windy. It’s cold. It’s snowy. It’s hot. It’s
sunny.
 To ask and answer about the weather: Is it (sunny)? Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.
 To join in with a chant
 To follow instructions: Put your hat on. Eat an ice cream.
 To join in with a song about the weather
 To listen to and follow a picture story
 To appreciate the value of being prepared shown in the story
 To talk about the weather in different places in the world
 To reflect on his/her learning

To help your child progress, you can do the following:

- Encourage your child to make a weather chart. He/She can draw pictures, cut them
out and choose which symbol to put on his/her chart each day. He/she says, for
example, It’s sunny.

- Ask your child about the weather: Is it (sunny)? He/She answers Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.
It’s (rainy).

- Give your child simple instructions to follow using language he/she has learnt in class:
Put your hat on. Eat an ice cream.

We hope your child is having fun using Super Safari and enjoying learning lots of new
language!
