1 Check whether Site condition report / drawings / specs.

SAFETY CHECKS
Is the area inspected by competent person at the start of the work, to check if
1 there are any obstacles, hindrances etc?
2 Have the areas to be excavated been properly fenced / barricaded?
3 Is the lighting arrangement adequate for working at night hours?
Are materials, excavated earth or plant / machinery kept at a considerable
distance from the edge of the excavated area to prevent or reduce the
4 likelihood of collapse of the sides of excavation?
Have the warning/ caution sign boards been provided at the excavated area
5 or where work is in progress?
Are adequate quantities of timber, trench supporting sheets, props or other
supporting materials available before commencement of excavation work for
6 shoring purposes to prevent any collapse of sides?
7 Are the materials strong enough to support the sides?
Are the sides of excavation sloped back or battered and the angle of batter is
8 sufficient to present collapse?
