1. GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1. INTRODUCTION

This publication details information retained by the GE OHV AC Control System. The information is viewed on the
Diagnostic Information Display (DID panel) or with the Portable Test Unit (PTU). The DID panel displays limited infor-
mation on Events while the PTU accesses detailed information on all Events and historical information. For DID panel
and PTU access and operation details, refer to the appropriate Vehicle Test Instructions (VTI) publication for the Con-
trol System.

Access to Drive System Controller (DSC) stored information is available through the DSC ports located in the Opera-
tor Cab using the preferred communication cable: USB drive, RS232 serial communications cable, or ethernet cable.

GE recommends that saved information (Events and Historical Counters and Profiles) be regularly downloaded using
the PTU or USB Drive as part of the maintenance program to ensure continuity of truck history.

2. EVENT LIST
The Event Lists are separated into three categories: DSC Propulsion Event List (001 - 099), Inverter Event List (100 -
299), and the DSC Truck Control Event List (600 - 699). These categories are the four control areas that Events are
identified by the Control System and active Events are displayed on the DID panel.

Events are notification that an unusual situation or limits of the Control System have been exceeded. Events may not
affect the truck operation and are informational Events only. Other Events, frequently referred to as Faults, may
restrict or inhibit truck operation.

The categories of the Event Tables are:

1. EVENT # - This column represents the three digit code displayed on the DID panel.

2. SUBCODE - This column represents the subcodes for each Event #.

3. EVENT DESCRIPTION - This column describes the parameters monitored for each Event.

4. RESTRICTION - This column describes the control system action resulting from an Event. Restrictions are:

• NO PROPEL — Red light illuminates in the Operator Cab. No propulsion effort allowed, however, retard effort
and DC Link energized are allowed until the truck stops. No propulsion or retard effort will function after
truck stops.
• NO POWER — Red light illuminates in the Operator Cab. No Propulsion effort and No retard effort allowed.
DC Link is de-energized.
• SPEED LIMIT — Propel, Retard and DC Link energized is still allowed. The truck is under a speed limit restric-
tion and needs evaluated by maintenance personnel.
• INVERTER 1 DISABLE — Prohibits the control system from enabling Inverter #1’s run drive signal. The truck
may only be operated in the Limp Mode.
• INVERTER 2 DISABLE — Prohibits the control system from enabling Inverter #2’s run drive signal. The truck
may only be operated in the Limp Mode.
• ENGINE SPEED — When Active, raises the engine speed to account for a possible shorted chopper module,
and closes CM1 to activate the blowers.
• SYSTEM EVENT — There are no Restrictions and truck operation is unaffected. Event is for informational pur-
poses only.
5. CAUSE OR DEFINITION — A brief description of likely causes of the Event.

6. AUTO RESET — This column shows when the control system will reset a particular Event and continue operating.

7. OPER. RESET — This column displays if the Operator is able to reset a restrictive Event and how many times the
Operator can reset the particular Event. Zero (0) represents the operator is not required or unable to reset a par-
ticular Event.

The following is the Event List for the Drive System Controller (DSC) propulsion portion of the Control System.

3. HISTORICAL DATA COUNTERS


The historical data counters maintain a numerical count for each occurrence of the Counter Number listed in the
Counter Table. Each Counter Number of the Counter Table counts:

• LCOUNT — The lifetime count which is associated with its date, LCOUNT START. It can be reset to zero by a pass-
word level privileged user, and the LCOUNT START will automatically be set to the date on the CPU board when
the reset occurred.
• LAST MONTH — This is the total number of counts for the monitored parameter over the last month. This coun-
ter has the same value throughout the duration of a month. At midnight during a month change, this counter is
overwritten by the THIS MONTH value, since at this time THIS MONTH becomes LAST MONTH.
• THIS MONTH — This counter maintains a moment by moment count of the occurrences of the parameter. The
counts are not reset to zero until midnight of the next month.
• LAST QTR — This is the total number of counts for the parameter over the last fiscal quarter, also known as the
last three months. This counter has the same value throughout the duration of a quarter. At midnight during a
quarter change, this counter is overwritten by the THIS QTR value, since at this time THIS QTR becomes LAST
QTR.
• THIS QTR — This counter maintains a moment by moment count of the occurrences of the parameter. The
counts are not reset to zero until midnight of the next quarter.
• YESTERDAY — This is the total number of counts for the parameter over the last 24 hours. This counter has the
same value throughout the duration of a day. At midnight this counter is overwritten by the THIS DAY value.
• THIS DAY — This counter maintains a moment by moment count of the occurrences of the parameter. The
counts are reset to zero every midnight, whether or not it is quarter change.

The list reflects all possible Historical Data Counters for all GE OHV AC Control Systems. Not all systems use all Coun-
ters. Those not used by the GE OHV AC Control Systems will not appear on the PTU.

3.1. MINE HISTORICAL COUNTERS (301 - 399)
