Subject: Planning Choices for Slidecast 1

In response to your request for Event Planning information, I have prepared a slidecast to inform NROTC
Midshipmen on the process.

Context

Audience. Navy ROTC midshipman are expected to plan an event before they graduate so that
their officer instructors know that they are capable of such things. I will deliver a slidecast that gives
information to underclass midshipmen to guide them in seeking venue information, presenting it to
their advisors, and the system to properly route requests for things to take place.

Need. They typically only know as much about the process of planning an event as any one off
the street so my task will be to use terms particular to NROTC to teach them. I can provide examples
from previous examples that I am familiar with so that they can make personal connections to the
advice I’m giving them.

Option. I will clarify the ROTC event planning process in greater detail so that vague terms won’t
continue to confuse the midshipmen in charge of planning events.

Rhetorical Moves
I will use previously planned events as examples so that midshipmen can reflect and observe
that the planning process can always be observed by battalion members because of group votes for
spending of funds.

Organizing Pattern
I will prepare the slidecast in a sequential time because that most accurately represents how the
planning process will be utilized and understood.

Thanks for reaching out for information, we’ll be in touch.
