Information in this document applies to any platform.

GOAL

This document explains the detailed steps to change an IP address for the Oracle VM Manager and non-clustered pool OVS
Servers.

In the below solution we have focused on changing the Oracle VM Server management IP, OVM Manager IP and
ServerPool virtual IP Addresses.

SOLUTION

The OVM Server Pool needs to be recreated, and you need to perform the following steps.

1) Stop all the Guest VM's on the OVS Server

2) If any Guest VM have ISO mounted, Detach it.If ISO mounted that will cause the issue when you try releasing the
repository ownership.

3) Migrate all the Guest VM's under the "Unassigned in Current Server Pool"

Refer the section" 7.10.12 Migrating Virtual Machines" in below link.

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35328_01/E35332/html/vmusg-vm-manage.html#vmusg-vm-migrate

4) Un-present all the repository and release the repository ownership.

a) Edit the repository.

In the Present Repository dialog box, use the arrow buttons to move the required Oracle VM Servers between the
presented and unpresented panes.

b) Edit the repository and choose "Release ownership"

This will unpresent the repository from servers in the pool and remove any cluster name from the underlying OCFS2
filesystem.

5) Move the OVS Server to "Unassigned Servers' folder.

To remove servers to a server pool, you can edit the server pool and click on the Servers tab to remove servers that are
already assigned to the server pool.

You can also drag and drop Oracle VM Servers into and out of server pools, and to the Unassigned Servers folder.

6) Delete the OVS Servers from OVM Manager DB.

Select the Unassigned Servers folder and select the Oracle VM Server which you want to delete and select Delete from
the Actions menu.

7) Change the IP's for OVS Servers and OVM Manager.

For OVM Manager:

a) Find out the Oracle VM Manager IP which is used for the Oracle VM Manager Login page.

b) Go to the network configuration file and modify the IP address, Netmask, Gateway

e.g /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ethx

c) Update the /etc/hosts file with new IP address.

For OVS Server:

a) Find out the Server management IP which is used for OVM Manager communications.

b) Go to the network configuration file and modify the IP address, Netmask, Gateway

* If the server has only a bonded connection, edit the appropriate /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond* file.

* If the server uses a bridged interface, edit the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bridge* file.

c) Update the /etc/hosts file with new IP address.

8) Make the network changes at the switch level if needed.

9) Restart the network service or reboot the OVM manager and OVS Servers for best results.

10) check that a ping test works for the new IP address.

11) Discover the OVS Server on the OVM manager with new IP address.

Refer: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26996_01/E18549/html/BABJABCB.html

12) Create the new pool with the new Virtual IP and add the OVS servers to the pool (it does not need any storage since
it's a nonclustered pool).

13) Refresh local and SAN storage to make repositories available.

Refer: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E50250_08/vmusg-storage-san-servers-refresh.html

14) Take ownership of the repositories after they are available.

a) Under "Repositories" tab, choose "Show All Repositories"

b) Edit the previously unpresented repository.

c) Click on "Take Ownership" and select the target pool.

15) Present the repository to the OVS Servers.

a) Select the storage repository of your choice and click Present-Unpresent to change the list of Oracle VM Servers
with access to the repository.

b) In the Present Repository dialog box, use the arrow buttons to move the required Oracle VM Servers between the
presented and unpresented panes

16) Refresh all the repositories again and acknowledge if any error events reported across repository.

17) Move Guest VMs to the new pool from the "Unassigned Virtual Machines" folder

18) Configure the VM network settings from Oracle VM Manager.

Refer: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27300_01/E27309/html/vmusg-network-managemnt.html#vmusg-network-edit

19) Start the Guest VMs and do the network change if needed for the Guest VM's.

20) If all the Guest VMs were started and running you may delete the old pool.
